Genesis 10? Is this figure in the works?

I know full well this post will be locked or even deleted. I've read a few that were VERY RUDELY replied to by individuals. I am, however, asking because I am looking forward to a new iteration of the figure. I'm honestly inquiring if DAZ is close to releasing a new figure. Not complaining or whatever - just honestly asking DAZ to reply. If not, it's cool. Just wondering if one is coming and what coolness we might expect and when it might release. Hoping my post doesn't get blocked or locked.

Daz never gives us warning about things like that. If they did, we might stop buying Genesis 9 content.

They almost certainly have some work done towards it... it's rare for DAZ fo let a generation last more than a few years before focusing on a new figure, and Genesis 9 has been around for about 3 years now.  That said. DAZ Stutio 4 is also in the process of getting replaced by a new version of the software, and it's not likely for a new generation of Genesis figures to be released until after that's out of beta.

I've seen no indications that Daz is going to release a new generation of figures in the near future. Genesis 9 hasn't been out that long, and I'm inclined to believe Daz is hoping to get several years of sales out of it. Strong possibility that any generation of figures gets its lifespan extended by making relatively minor updates (as with Genesis 8.1).

I doubt any significant development work has been done on a new generation.

As interesting as our wishlists for future "coolness" might be, we should probably refrain from discussing limitations/problems/weaknesses with Genesis 9, as there are plenty of existing threads for that.

it would have to be damned good and very realistic to justify it

DAZ makes their money from selling content

not from people using the program DAZ studio

so easy exportation and possibly native formats for Blender, Unreal, Unity etc that can be morphed adapted using D|S as a modification tool rather than it's renderer like the Reallusion Character Creator program does for their content might be a consideration

I've not heard anything - not unusual as DAZ is a pretty leak-proof organisation. However, the development of G10 may have been stalled due to the need to develop DS6/2026. It's a huge task to get a new version of the software. Trying to invent a step change in a figure at the same time as doing the same thing with the software is a monumental task. Regards, Richard.

I speculate it'd be most ideal to have a G10 launch coincide with DS6 leaving beta, to help incentivize people to get with the latest and greatest. Also, maybe a G10 figure could use new code/tooling only available in DS6 to support some fun new capabilities.

Er... release years for the Genesis figures:

    • Genesis 1 - 2011.
    • Genesis 2 - 2013
    • Genesis 3 - 2015.
    • Genesis 8 - 2017.
    • Genesis 8.1 - 2021
      Genesis 9 - 2022

So, that's roughly two years for Genesis 1, 2 years for Genesis 2, 2 years for Genesis 3, 4 years for Genesis 8, 1 year for Genesis 8.1,  and now G9 is in it's third year and working towards it's fourth. That puts it toward the end of it's cycle and already makes it the second longest running Genesis figure line.  .

The only people who know would be

    • Daz, who usually doesn't give any heads up about new figures
    • Any PA working on content for it if it exists, but they would most likely be under NDA

So I'm afraid there is near zero chance you will get an answer if a G10 is coming soon.
If there's no new figures expected for the next few years then there's a tiny chance Daz might say so at some point, if they see people stopping buying G9 content because "G10 might be coming".

Even if it were a completely different team working on project GenX versus the 2026 Beta, I don't think they could launch a new Gen at launch since many of the PAs would have little time to dive into GenX versus making sure all their existing stuff is working in the new Daz version. Even if plugin and script PAs aren't a majority of PAs, having GX launch with no script support wouldn't look good.

No no no ... they will skip directly to Genesis 11 and it will be the last Genesis ever (id. Windows 11) laugh

If they call it Gen X, will it's joints hurt all the time for no good reason?

Yes, it has been locked - because it can only be pure speculation, which means it is not going to serve any useful purpose (other than offering up some neat jokes).
