Update old Blender files

brainmuffinbrainmuffin Posts: 1,285

I'm trying to revisit some scenes I ported from Studio to Blender via Diffeo, but it cannot find the textures. The add-on is configured for the new locations for content, but the files have the old path. The error console shows paths from old machines. Is there a way to update the Blender files with the new path?

In windows you can create shortcuts, this way you can for example make a folder point to another, and may be recreate the old paths you need for the blender files. If you use linux there may be a similar feature. Of course you need the daz content installed somewhere for the original textures to be referenced.

    rmb > create shortcut

For the future, if you want the blender files to be self-contained without referencing external textures, then you can pack the file.

file > external data > pack resources

p.s. Also found this about missing files.

I tried the Shortcut route before posting. Blender doesn't want to seem to follow, though Studio does fine. I'll take a look at the link.

This discussion mentions "Find Missing Files" which seems to work, after pointing it to the updated content directory.

    Thanks.
