Genesis 9 Expressions are Not So Expressive

Having a weird bug with Genesis 9 that just seems to have cropped up recently.

If I load a character and apply an expression, everything seems ok.

But, if delete that character and start fresh, the expression is less enthusiastic.

This happens with any expression I apply.  I just picked this one for an example because it's more expressive.

I'm seeing this happening in 4.24 and 2025.  I wondered if it was something I bought from a third party (I keep all my 3rd party assets in a different library) so I removed the library entirely, and that didn't help.  I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of Daz and cleared the libraries completely before doing a reinstall and that didn't help.

If I Daz restart, it seems to clear up the problem, but some of the facial movements seem locked (eg, brow doesn't raise or lower, or wrinkle...anything that uses FACS doesn't seem to be working).

You mean you start fresh with the same character or just a G9 Base ?

Some expression products come with a preset to unlock the brows bones and tell you to apply that first. Have you overlooked that step?

Or maybe some expressions require bone rotation limits to be overridden, and maybe now now have the limits enforced.

Did you dial FACS Details Strengh on the first character but not on the second one?

By "fresh" I mean either deleting the character or selecting File/New

No I did not overlook unlocking the brows.  The particular expression set I am using for a test (P3D Puck And Poppy Joy) does not have brow unlock and has never had that issue before.

I also don't supress the notification for the rotation limits

And no, I did not forget to change the FACS details strength between characters.

    The steps to reproduce:

1 - Start with a fresh session of Daz (after deleting DSON cache directory)

2- Load genesis 9 base character with no morphs

3- Apply the expression (eg P3D Puck and Poppy Joy) to the model through the Smart Content tab - Everything works fine

4 - Under Posing/Head test dials - Brow down 100% fine.  Brow up 100% fine.  Cheek puff 100% fine.  Cheek hollow 100% fine

5 - Delete the Genesis 9 base model

6 - Load the genesis 9 base model with no morphs

7 - Apply the expression (P3D Puck and Poppy Joy) to the model through the Smart Content tab - Expression is extremely muted

8 - Under Posing/Head test dials - Brow down 100% - Does not work.  Brow up 100% does not work.  Cheek puff 100% does not work.  Cheek hollow 100% does not work.

    9 - Clear DSON cache

10 - Close out Daz entirely

    11 - Repeat steps 2 on.

Alright, fresh day I have narrowed it down even more.  It's particulary when it reloads the cache/data/Daz 3D/Genesis 9/Base.cache.dsf that the problem arises.

If I delete that file when I delete the character, the expressions work as expected.

That's a DAZ Studio bug & should be reported to them.

Kinda figured, but thought I should check on the forums first to see if anyone has encountered it before and found a way around it.
