Thanks, Jan!
I just finalized the latest version of my likeness today. I'll show it to them at lunch tomorrow.
You know, many years ago, I had a somewhat visible presence online, via YouTube and my web site.
I was driven offline over a decade ago due to some active bullying.
Lately I've wanted to regain that recognition, but it hasn't worked so far.
But then, I have this wonderful family of around 100 people. They love my stuff, and i love them!
I'm doing well after all.
Oh, I love your name... are you a real scrapper, like me?!
I decided to update my 3D alter ego. To accomplish this goal I purchased the Michael 8 HD addition.
Then I made my character heavier and added more aged details. I think I'm done here.... I get exhausted easily.
And here's the body shot.
That's coming along nicely. I think your head ( in the photos with your friends ) is not as long and skinny as the 3D model. Maybe there are some head width and size dials you could try, if you agree with my observation.
Thanks. I think you're right. I actually started working on another version.
This time I started with the Michael 8 HD version. I'd just bought it this morning.
I got lost a few hours ago. Now it's midnight, and I'm off to bed.
I came here after seeing the other thread in The Commons (the one about hanging up your brushes) and just wanted to say a couple of things.
To me personally, Yeti and Tango are clearly dogs. But it's possible that the lady who thought Tango might be a cow, may have done so due to the shape of the muzzle. Not because Tango looks like a cow, but more likely because compared to Yeti, the head profile of Tango is very different. Tango looks to have a Mastiff profile, while Yeti looks to have the profile of a Spaniel. My point being that just as in real life, those breeds have very different head profiles, in fact, they're about as far apart in dog breeds as you can get, so perhaps she'd been influenced by the difference in head profile. Tango being black and white might also have pushed her more towards thinking "cow".
Either way, your painting brought a bit of a grin to my face, because it immediately reminded me of a movie called "The Rebel". There's a few movies out there with that title, but the one I specifically refer to here is the one from 1961 starring Tony Hancock. The movie is a fair bit before my generation, and I rarely watch movies from that era, but I tell you what, I'm so damn glad I watched that one!
I was sick at the time, relegated to the sofa with the most horrendous case of flu I had ever had to endure in my life. I was about to switch channels, but was so sick I couldn't even be bothererd to reach over to the table for the remote, Best thing ever, because if I'd reached the remote I'd have made a big mistake!
It's about a man with a passion for sculpting and painting. Trapped in a monotonous office job, he's so passionate about art that he throws caution to the wind, tells his life-long employer what to do with his employment, and embarks upon his true passion (art) full time.
I'm not kidding, some of the stuff I saw in that movie had me riddled with actual pain for laughing so hard. I just tried to find it on YouTube so that I could give you a link, but I cannot find a single clip anywhere that does the movie justice, not even close, so I chose not to link to anything at all. But If you ever come across that movie (The Rebel 1961), I think it's something that you specifically could (very easily) fall in love with. Not just because his art style was similar to yours, but because he achieved greatness, and I really do mean true greatness!
I have the biggest grin on my face just thinking about it. If you've seen it then you'll know what I'm talking about. But if not then that's a (very) unfortunate situation, one that I personally think you should put right as quick as possible. I'm not kidding, there's a very wicked sense of humour in that movie, one that hits you randomly throughout the film. There were scenes in that movie that had me in actual physical pain due to laughing so hard during the flu I had at the time. Seen it two or three times since then and it never gets old. I suppose, depending upon your country of origin, some of the humour could be lost in translation or just not picked up on, but hopefully not. The movie also features an actual cow, so, could be an omen!
If nothing else, it will teach you that regardless of what others think, always stick to your passion, even if it means continuing the way it did for him (sorry, no spoiler for you here, but funny stuff I assure you).
