I like the Shooting Star morphs, and I don't have a problem with them being G9s. One of the things I like about them is they haven't all been sculpted body builders, although there have been a few of them. I think DAZ has put up a nice variety over the course of the sale.

I can't complain too much. I bought several hundreds of dollars worth of stuff for a fraction of that.

Is it fair to say all the shooting stars items have been g9 characters?

Specifically, they're all been morph-only characters with no original textures, just presets to reuse the base Geneis 9 materials.

Do they include any bend correctives? If not, even 2.99 seems a bit steep. I have not bought any of them so far.

Yes, at least the one I checked ( https://www.daz3d.com/garrett-for-genesis-9 ) - there was a great slew of joint adjustments and then a clump of custom corrective morphs in Parameter settings for the Body shape.

I can say they've all worked fine with all the playing around I've been doing with them.

Well at least two of them use the Nikolai 9 morph, and probably Cliff forThimor 9 (Nikolai+Thimor) ,which isn’t a sculpted bodybuilder type. So I don’t think pumping up variety was the main reason the sub product characters aren’t muscular.

If you already picked up Nikolai for $3.49 or $6.99 during any sale (right now in Outlet), then you basically already have these G9s you’re fine with, just with a dedicated set of textures tailored to the morph. Those include Normal maps that enhance the realism of belly folds, plus very unique Difusse maps with details like moles, body hair, discolorations, and similar touches. Those are the kinds of products we should be supporting.

Sadly, yes. And I'm exclusively G9. Just don't need any more for the most part.

And as pointed out above, they're shapes intended to go with the stock skin textures, so not worth the money. Thanks!

And doubly so since, like all too many of DAZ's recent fixed price offer promotions, these items are actually turning out to be cheaper to purchase the next day after the discounts that are excluded when the prices are locked are applied. My guess is that the long term future of these things will be that they'll soon start showing up as ubiquitous cheap filler in future similar promotions, the "get free with purchase of X" promotions, and Quick Grab.  I don't mind buying morph only products if they're interesting enough and properly advertised as such. like many of Luna3d/Starlight13's meshgames products. but when we're still getting brand new full characters with 8k textures as PC items that end up costing less... I ended up paying a whopping $1.36 after discounts for https://www.daz3d.com/cj-iris-8k-hd-for-genesis-9 on 02/25/26... these just feel chintzy.

In case Premier members haven't noticed we got four more choices in the Premier character list yesterday to use with our free monthly coupons: Astaroth, Mercilus, Jennie and Maryam. I'm leaning towards Astaroth unless something better comes out on the 26th.

It's not a matter of choosing a complete character package over purchasing a morph, we can support both, and I do. In this case the morphs provide faces that are better than ones I could make, and I can use the body shapes with those textures you mentioned. The same applies to the other promotional morphs.  Yes, $2.99 is probably the outer limit of what I'm willing to pay for them, especially with Outlet and Quick Grab pricing on complete characters.  DAZ isn't doing anything sly with these, they ID the textures they use in the promos as being the standard ones available in our G9 Materials. Obviously we're not limited to using those.

Hmpf, no wishlist freebies for me. Even though I have a number of wishlist items that are no longer new NONE of them fall within either 'Shop Now' subset.crying

  • It's DAZ Origial items only, and only ones under a certain price.  It would be really nice if the ad copy would mention that somewhere, but that is what this particular Wishlist promotion is about.

Ditto . . . was planning two carts, but discovered the buttons led to blanks pages for me as well. So I shall turn this into a positive experience by clearing my cart and focusing on how much store credit I saved today!cheeky

If that were the case they would be getting ginormous income from all the other stores that do the same free-with offers.

Even if not buying anything today, the wishlist sales can be helpful:

They are effectively a filter for (many of) the items that are usually included in the xmas freebies, so can be used to more easily add to your wishlist for future freebies. Just go to the lists for FREE-WISH (under $20) and WISHING-FREE (under $30) and make sure the “Only Wishlisted” checkbox is off.

The second, under $30, list also includes all the items in the first list. So, if using both lists, you might sort by price highest-to-lowest, so you can stop if you get to the items that are in the first list.

  • I was kinda expecting more turnover in the Mad Door Prizes section. Feels like it's been stagnant for a while now, same stuff showing up every day.

No, because that wouldn't be FreeTM, that's just free, not that DAZ could ever actually Trademark .  A Trademark cannot be applied to a common word, nor can legal action be taken to protect it, except in cases where the use of the word/phrase is tied specifically and uniquely into a company's brand identity and practices in order to have a unique secondary meaning in their chosen field of business, and legal protection can only be used in cases where use of that word/phrase are repeatedly used in an attempt to confuse or mislead the public in order to encroach upon the Trademark holder's specific business.

And I can't imagine many companies using or wanting to use "free" in the way that DAZ does...

I don't think they've changed at all, have they?  It seems like 90% of this sale has been running on autopilot.

It's been 6,677 items all month long. I do seem to recall a few items appearing/dropping off at the start of the month, but not since then. perhaps it's just my luck/wishlist items, or perhaps those 6,677 items are carved in stone for this iteration of MM.

Yep, always the same rotating group of PAs, all items from before 2025. I have slim pickings of sale items left in my wishlist.

  • I guess we end up saying this every year in some form or another, but March Madness isn't feeling all that mad this year. Not terrible, by any means. But I miss the quickie flash sales, PC+ for a Day sales, bundle-building sales, and the other gimmicks from previous sales. So much of this year's sale is tied to you buying something new / buying something recently rather than just "here's some stuff on sale."

I'm having a sad day so maybe I am just grumpy.

They offered a similar selection during Christmas and it never changed: I think the goal is just to offer an easy access to a relativly cheap way to keep the stars going.

I took full advantage of the Door Prizes staying the same. I was slowly buying up a specific collection of related items for two bucks a pop. Got em all.

This is a good point, and one I'd spaced in the chaos of Adult Nonsense (tm) that's swamped me today. Thank you for the reminder.

It was not a serious suggestion that daz could gain a trademarkl, it was a comment on the number of other stores (online and bricks-and-mortar, large and small) that I see making exactly that kind of offer.

The thing is, the stuff that HAS been on sale has been on sale for crazy good prices if you play the games right and use tokens.. in fact some of the pricing doesn't even make sense, like the fact that in many of the ads, like today's, the newly mad items are 30% off with an extra twenty percent off if you buy two (44% off), yet the still mad items are 40% off with an extra 20% off with the purchase of one newly mad item (52% off) So, yeah, they're actually more expensive on the day they go on sale than they are for a few days afterwards.  However, this MM is definitely disapointing in that most of the catalog stuff that's been on sale has been pre-2025, which probably hurts really bad if you're focusing on G9 products, and not only has the number of vendors whose catalogs have been featured been surprisingly sparse, but even those catalogs have been noticably culled.

You could check the forum for the first post mentioning "march mehness/meh-ness" to see when it happened the first time. Must be at least three or four years now that MM was like this year.
