Pearly Whites Teeth Materials [Commercial]

Hi everyone

My next product release will address a common issue where teeth can appear greyish or dark and impact the realism of a render.

There are presets for both Genesis 8 and Genesis 9 figures, with both texture-based and color only variants, plus stackable LIE presets to bleach or darken the result (for the texture-based options).

All presets use the Iray Uber shader and affect teeth only. As a bonus I've also included presets for Teeth Essentials Shapes and Materials for Genesis 9 - this product is only required for those bonus presets.

Here are some of the promos, but if there's a particular character you'd like to see a before and after on, please comment below and if I have them I'll do my best to render something and post to this thread - please do share your own results once the product is released :)

I've not been well for a while so if there are gaps in replies please know that I'll be monitoring the thread closely and will will respond at the earliest opportunity. Thank you for your support heart

Looks excellent to me. And very useful... Hope to see it released soon. :)

@Unseen thank you, hopefully it won't be too long before it's released

Here's an example on BlueJaunte's gorgeous Amira G8F character. First image is her out of the box, second is with pearly whites no texture preset 2 applied, and third is her converted to PBRSkin using 1-Click PBRSkin and pearly whites no texture preset 2.

All images have had no postwork, using the default HDRI (135deg rotation) included with DS. Obviously there are further tweaks that can be made to render and surface settings etc to improve the quality, but wanted to show a raw, "what you see is what you get" example.

I think this is going to be a really useful time saver. Looking forward to trying it out!

    @3DSaga thank you!

Yes! I have jumped through so many hoops fixing this problem. And your fix is still way more realistic than my results (I just want non-gray teeth).

This looks excellent and very promising!

@xyer0 you and me both, which is what inspired me to create a solution.

@caravelle thank you - as someone that strives for realism in their renders it's really helped sell the illusion for me, so I hope you and everyone else that's interested enjoys the benefits too!

Unless anything changes, this should be getting released next week :)

  • And it's going to leap into my cart on release day!
  • Yeah I can't go too crazy purchasing these days but I constantly have to fix teeth and this will be a godsend.

@Elor thank you for adding the store link, I've also updated first post.

Worst possible timing but my phone died yesterday so I'm going to be disconnected for the next several hours while I try to get it fixed or source a temporary replacement - wish I could afford a new one :(

I don't often jump on a new release, but I jumped on this one.

Good luck with your phone issues, @Silas3D

  • As the prophecy foretold, it has come unto my possession. Let there be smiles and snarls and the gnashing of many teeth

@SilverGirl thank you for your support and I hope you enjoy the product - unfortunately I couldn't get my phone fixed but was able to part exchange for a second-hand one that will get me out of trouble for the time being.

@XtraDimensional hehe, thank you and enjoy :)

Thank you everyone, your support means a lot :) out of interest, is there anything else that any of you would like to see to improve realism of your renders? Doesn't necessarily have to be figure specific

Well, since you asked... an eye brightener that works with the kinds of eyes that have the blacked/whited out layer. There's one in the store already that works great for the other sort, but now only half my characters' eye problems are solved.

@SilverGirl funnily enough I was experimenting with a new eye material, can you give me a product example of the eyes you're talking about and I'll look into it

This product is for G9. Since it is just a shader setting, it should also work with G8, right?
Realistic theeth materials are long overdue.

Seems only G9 was added in 'required products', but description indicates tha it includes presets for G8 as well.

@Masterstroke and @Wolfwood that's actually a mistake on Daz's part - when I uploaded the product I listed the Genesis 9 Teeth Essentials as a required product, but only if using the bonus presets. I didn't list starter essentials as required so think they've got their wires crossed with 'essentials'. I also stated clearly in the product description and compatible figures that there are presets for both Genesis 8 and Genesis 9 figures.

I should also add that I deliberately named the product 'materials' rather than 'shaders' because they are material presets, which mean you can apply them with the figure selected instead of having to select the teeth surface.

I would assume that any that don't use maps could potentially be saved as a shader preset and applied to anything?

    For sure :)

    Oh sweet!

For examples of characters' materials I'm using:

    Daz Originals / CJ Luna
    Daz Originals / Leysa HD

If you don't happen to have those two handy, a lot (most? all?) of the Colm Jackson characters use that same method. I can hunt down others as well if it would help.

I don't know why he's setting his characters' eyes like that but his early releases for Genesis 9 don't use it: the oldest I have from him with the black eyes in textures mode is CJ Anya, SKU 92217.
