I'm glad people are enjoying the photos. I have many many more. Here is a photo of penguins on the shore of South Georgia Island. This photo was taken from the ship. I cropped it to just the penguin area. Look at all those little black and white dots (penguins!). The image wouldn't upload to the forum, so I put it in the gallery. (I still hate the gallery update that happened a few years ago. It was a big downgrade in my eyes.)

Edit: well that didn't work. How can I link to the gallery image? Did I mention I hate this Daz Gallery? Grr.

Edit 2: I tried putting the image on Google Drive and adding a link here. I hope that works.

Looks like your glasses survived also...

I just fell on my back and conked my head on the rocks. The glasses were safe on the front of my face. Hope your mom had no injuries in her fall.

Welcome back It's good that you're back safely after your imprompu ballet there. According to Douglas Adams the trick is to throw yourself at the ground, and miss..

Great photos - thank you for posting them. I love the yawning seal and the little one Richard flagged up. Also the penguins - I've only seen them in zoos and they look so much cleaner and brighter in the wild.

Most penguins I saw looked amazingly clean. Maybe it is because they swim in the ocean waters. Some had guano on their bellies, though. They lie on their bellies on the ground. That is probably how that happens.

So fantastic. Thank you for sharing. The amount of vegetation is a bit more than I expected, but still obviously way south of the tree line.

I think the forum allows uploads of around 5Mb, though you've got some of 6Mb-ish. Certainly doesn't allow 10Mb as I've found the hard way with trying to upload freebies.

    Regards,

    Richard

Are there also dimensional limits (pixels wide and tall), as far as you know?

Thanks for the (too late) advice. Unfortunately, my aim was dead on. I didn't miss. I did survive without noticeable damage, though. The rocks also survived their collision with my head. No penguins were damaged in the fall. All is well.

You need to link to the gallery page, which means the image  needs to be published as far as I know - diect image links expire so people can't use the gallery to host images that have not been subject to moderation.

Yes, and O_O that is a lot of (possibly hungry) penguins.

No idea about any image size limits, can't see why there would be any. Thank you for sharing, absolutely fantastic. Regards, Richard.

I still see the image in my gallery, and the forum link points to it for me. Did they just unpublish it? I don't see any moderator comments. I HATE this Daz Gallery! Can it get any less user friendly?

I can't see it in your gallery, so presumably it has become "unpublished" one way or another?

I agree that the Daz Gallery is about as user-UNfriendly as it could possily be!

  • Richard HaseltineRichard Haseltine Posts: 110,645

Apparently you need to be in Edit mode to see the mod comments, and yes it was because it wasn't 3D - I should have thought of that issue yesterday, sorry.

Well, that's pretty silly. How many people go into edit mode on a previously published image, just in case a moderator has commented on that image?  That's certainly no way to get my attention. If it weren't for you, Richard, I never would have found that out. I bet there are no instructions in the gallery that explain that, either.

  • barbultbarbult Posts: 27,106

So, am I allowed to upload and post my travel images here in the forum, or are they all going to be deleted, too, because they are "not 3D"?

Here is fine, a discussion forum has to alow a broad range of images for various purposes (or for chat) - the gallery is more focussed on art work in particular.

More rugged coastline of South Georgia Island.
Interesting fact: 95% of the world's Antarctic fur seals live on South Georgia Island.
Interesting fact: over 50% of the world's southern elephant seals live on South Georgia Island.

Hercules Bay in South Georgia Island. More King Penguins, Fur Seals, and a Giant Petrel (bird). King Penguins have strange eyes. We saw strange clouds in the sky.
Are you tired of penguin and seal photos yet?

Macaroni Penguins (see the yellow tufts on their heads and their red eyes) live on the rocky cliffs of Hercules Bay on South Georgia Island. I spotted a chinstrap penguin among the macaroni penguins.

In Stromness Harbour on South Georgia Island, we saw gentoo penguins (see the white stripe on top of their heads), more fur seals and king penguins, and the remains of an old whaling station.

St. Andrews Bay in South Georgia Island is thick with King Penguins. The total population is estimated to be near half a million. It is the largest King Penguin colony in the world.
Interesting fact: When penguins are molting, they cannot go into the water.

Not sick of them at all. Just worried you might regret putting them up and feeling compelled to put more up. Please don't feel compelled; we are loving your holiday vicariously, but it was your holiday and yours to enjoy. If putting the images up becomes a burden, stop, please. Thank you so much for showing what you have already. Many thanks, Richard.

It's probably an ilusion, but it looks as if you are standing in a middle of concentric circles - that and the strange clouds I'd be worried about UFOs.

That rock looks like a very eroded sphinx - more evidence of an alien presence?

I think the one at the back is saying "Just how much further is it?"
