This is a collection of Iray Uber shader presets that enables rainbow/chromatic hair.
It was designed for strand-based hair, but I've made it versatile so that it can be used on card-based hair and even props or clothing - the main condition is that whatever you apply it to has good UV's that are layed out either horizontally or vertically.
You can still use it on something that has more randomised/off-axis UV's, but the result may be more chaotic ;)
Note: because this was designed for hair, the shader uses refraction as well as thin film so anything you apply it to may turn transparent in the viewport (depending on your Daz Studio settings and viewport draw style), but will not affect the rendered result.

Another temptation. I rarely use colourful hair, but even on 'normal' hair the effects apparently look brilliant. The wide range of applications is, of course, another reason to take a closer look at the product.
Whilst it's intended to replace the color of the hair/object you apply it to, if said object is already using the Iray Uber shader there's nothing to stop you skipping the prep step and applying the other presets to blend with existing base/diffuse color, which offers even more variance :)
You could then change the weight of the effect as desired for a more intense or subtle effect.
EDIT: actually you do still have to apply the prep preset but base/bump/normal maps are retained, it's just base color that gets reset to white. You can then lower the refraction weight to make the diffuse/base color mix with the color gradient.
Here's an example of the mixing - base color is mid grey with a black and white leopard spot texture. Blue gradient comes from a combo of product presets.
As always the included presets aren't exhaustive and one is encouraged to use different ones together and tweak surface properties to get the desired result
Looks great! I definitely think this will be worth getting.
Quick question, when you say the UV are layed out horizontally and vertically, does that mean we will be able to do colored stripes along the lengths of the hair, as well as across them as your sample pictures show?
For card-based hair certainly, though depending on the look you're going for it will take some manual adjustment because it will depend on how the surfaces and UV's of the hair are laid out.
For strand-hair unfortunately not, because I need to use the Iray Uber shader rather than the OmniHair shader for the chromatic/prismatic effect.
Attached image is Matilda hair, which is the same one used in other promo in first post. The alternate direction presets were still intended for color variation along hairs rather than stripes, in an effort to support card-based hairs that have UV's laid out horizontally. You can of course use however you like though :)
I do have another hair shader product that is better suited to strand-based striping: https://www.daz3d.com/express-yourself-omnihair-shaders
That product uses the Layered Image Editor to create color striping on the fly, so if you're comfortable using LIE you can apply a striping arrangement you like and then edit the colors in LIE.
These look really cool! I love the Fifth Element fan art image!
Thanks @3Diva! Hehe it was a fun kit bash, though I'd really like to make the full outfit but don't know if I can for editorial reasons
Yeah, I hear you, it's probably best to stay away from easily recognizable IP and designs. Still a fun shout-out to a fantastic movie with that render! Thank you for putting a smile on my face! :)
OOOO Shiny...I like shiny pretties. My husband says I'm a crow. I love it and I am looking forward to its release
This will be a must buy for me
@kimh hehe I myself am a magpie and love shiny things
@IceDragonArt your support is greatly appreciated :)
@XtraDimensional

Please stop making awesome things, @Silas3D. I'm going to end up broke!
Okay, that's helpful info. Yes, that other product is exactly what I was asking to find. Thanks!
Even so, this new product certainly looks like it's worth getting, so it's gong in my cart the moment you release it.
Cheers,
Ryuu
Thanks so much Ryuu :)
A little bird tells me this should be getting released very soon - whilst it was initially designed for hair, it can be used on anything that user the Iray Uber shader as demoed in one of the promos above. I was thinking of creating an addon product that includes custom masks/maps to make it easier to use for other things. Would anyone be interested in that?
Here's another clothing example on my Modern Deco Dress for G8F, applied to dress and earrings - also applied to the shoes.
I would definitely buy the shader for fabrics too. I love the hair -- I've got a character with green hair.
@Damsel thank you! You'll be glad to hear it's available in the store right now :)

Sorry, have not seen, that you updated your first post.
@Artini no problem, I appreciate you posting the link regardless :)
Great shaders.
Looks interesting on plushies.
Nice work @Artini!
Gave me some inspiration for my own plushie render and an idea for a new product :)
I like it!
Thanks, @Silas3D
Your image give me an idea to create my own material zones on Plushies to have more flexibility with shaders.
Have switched to Plushies 2.0 by Lady Littlefox.
Fully posable, more material zones by default.
Below is an example render of:
