G9 character Rigging randomly broke

It appears as if the rigging for one of my recent custom G9 characters broke. I don't know how or when, but whenever I load this character, be it from an existing scene with them already in it, or as a fresh character preset on a new scene, they have several rigging issues. The arms appear to have completely shifted down, the body deforms in certain spots, the jaw no longer opens, and the eyes have shifted up into the forehead to name a few of the issues.

This is the only character I've had this issue with, every other custom or store-bought character is fine. I've tried redownloading the G9 Starter assets, and none of my other files have changed. What could have caused this and how would I go about fixing it?

Thank you all in advance for the help!

  • That looks as if there are bad joint adjustments - is the figure taller (or shorter) than the base figure? A couple of possiblities - something has broken the lnks between the character shape and the joint centres, in which case reinstalling the character may help, or another character is using the same name and so usurpng the links (but that would usually giive a Duplicate Formula warning).

This resembles my problem with a G2M figure. His only shaping morph is Genesis 3 Male for Genesis 2 Male(s).

He's been assigned several poses as keyframes along his timeline. At some frame the pivot points of the joints are dislocated, because the deformity increases as the time advances, but I see no user way of finding or correcting these values. I'll try reinstalling the morph and G2M. Thanks for the advice.

When the hands look like that, I turn on the Joint Editor Tool, put the figure in the A pose, and right click the figure. In the pop-up, select Adjust Rigging to Shape, and I also click Adjust Orientation at the bottom before I Accept. This usually fixes the strangeness with the hands, but there could be something else wrong if it keeps occurring.

The rigging adjustmet to shape worked perfectly for the hands, thank you!

Now my remaining problem is all the facial flexes that are still broken. The jaw won't open and the eyes are totally unresponsive. Upon further inspection this is something that's spread to all my G9 figures, even a base figure is broken like this.

Okay, I found out what it was. Totally my mistake (shocker.) For whatever reason I tried to save a character morph the other day and for whatever reason it overwrote all the base morphs for G9. Many of them translated just fine, but a good few were completely broken like the ones I was having issues with. Going in and deleting them seems to have fixed it. Hope this helps whoever makes the same mistake!
