Any ETA on the new DS that can take 5000 cards?

My new computer, as of AUgust, that I bought because it had a good 4000 card and all the other stuff I wanted, has had the backlight overheating. It is off to be repaired if it can be, and if not, they will refund my money. Part of me hopes they do, but part of me hopes the fix the backlight and anything else, so I can keep using it. I am not sure If I can find another good MSI with 4000 cards. Sigh. Is there any idea when the new DS will come out? I started to read the threads, but it really depressed me. Like will my plugins work, will all the stuff I have worked so hard to perfect work. I have grown to really like 4.24.

Any quick info about eta appreciated.

You can always build scenes in 4.24 and then open them in the 2026 Alpha to render them. Not that ideal but will hopefully tide you over in the short term.

The new version is a major framework shift and so it is not possible for most plugins to work "as-is" in the new version - just like it is not possible for the iray version that supports 5K cards to work in the old DS 4.24 framework.  The Daz Premier plugins work on the new version but other PAs are unlikely to be able to update their own plugins until the new version moves from Alpha to Beta (or possibly release version) because until that time the API is not confirmed/stablised.

As far as I am aware there is no mentioned date when the new version will exit Alpha (I believe previous deadlines have been missed in the past and so it's easier to not make promises too far in advance).

Daz rarely if ever gives ETA.

The latest entries in the change log suggest that there might be a beta release soon, but there has not been any official announcement about it so far.

Thanks for the heads up, I had missed that! The first beta of DS2026 has indeed just been released!

Am I right in thinking that different versions of DS cannot be run on the same Windows itteration/HD? If so I was wondering if a way around the concerns of using the different forms of DS, that is the new and the most recent legacy version, would be to put each one on its own separate  modest hard drive, or SSD, with the same version of the OS on each drive. Content then could be put on an appropriate separate HD, which each DS could access as needed. No loss to your legacy DS then, and you could make use of the new DS and its features. Just thinking out loud, but of course this could be a useless idea.

  • You can run differrnt versions of DS at once, though system resources may be an issue. Using instnces you can even run multiple copies of the same version Daz Studio Pro 4.12 - instances but again, if one of them is working the system hard (e.g. rendering or simulating) there will be a limit to what the others can do.

There's nothing stopping you from running multiple versions of DS on the same computer. If you so desired, you could run every minor update (4.24.01, 4.24.02, etc.) at the same time. All you'd have to do is trick DIM into not overwriting your current version by renaming the folder before you update. Also, whatever they decide to call the version after DS4 (DS6, seemingly) will be entirely distinct from DS4, the same way DS4 was separate from DS3, and can also be run on the same system at the same time.

    upgraded to 9900x 5070ti 64gb ram

have a regular daz studio and a beta 2025 studio on the same computer

do the scene building on the regular daz studio

and load it to the 2025 beta for the final render

    it just works

Same here. Had to get a new computer in November 2025 and went for a RTX 5000 series video card. Because it makes sense to buy the latest hardware when buying a new computer.

Yes, I have to installations and render on a public beta. It's doable, but takes more time in setting up scenes to render.

The RTX 5000 series is out for more than a year.

And it will take time for a new major version of DS to be ready, though it is now Beta rather than Alpha.

Or you can also use DS4 to export to blender and work there, 5000 cards are supported among other advantages. Then personally I only get a new hardware when the software I'm using requires it, not the other way around, this also makes things much more stable for production in general.
