I think it is time to contact support....
Thanks for spending the time helping me to try to fix this!
May I have you check that folder in the shared Daz3d folder to see if the original zips ever decompressed? That might explain why you are not seeing the new shader.
Are these the files? They are unzipped and installed on one of my DAZ content hard drives. Am I suppose to click on one of them at some time in the process of building a scene with characters? It seems to me that whatever a character needs, should load with the character - the shaders, the textures, the morphs. My G8.1 and G8 characters load with NO shaders or textures. I have to manually click on their icons to load those. Somehow, somewhere in the process, the pbr file is overlooked. Are these pbr files installed in the wrong place?
Yes! Those are exactly the files we are looking for. You shouldn't have to click on them. Support might be able to tell you why your 8.1 figures load with the old iray shader rather than the pbr one. You say that they are on a Daz Connect Drive? that is odd but explains why you can't get a new DIM version; remember that Daz Connect always supercedes any DIM product. My guess is that Support will have you deinstall the Connect version. Do you have a lot of content in those folders?
If you read the comments by others at the begining of this thread you'll see that I was told this problem was caused by Studio have two places to look for files, the hard drives, and the Apple Cloud, which is listed in the errors as a place where the files are stored through CONNECT, even though they tell me there are no files in the Apple Cloud, they're all on my hds.
There. I fixed it. I trashed DAZ Studio and then installed a fresh download of it. It fixed the problem for now. It may have created other problems I don't know about yet.
You were told there are two instalaltion routes, Daz Connect (through Daz Studio) which places the files in one place (the relative file path inserted into /data/cloud/1_###### folder in the Connect data directory, which will be on your computer unless you deliberately choose a network location - which musts till be mapped to a local folder) and DIM or manual instalaltion which will place the files in another location (the actual relative path for the files in the target content directory). If both exist and are known to the Content Management System then the former will be the only one used, the latter will be ignored even if the files are not found in the Connect data directory. None of this has any connection with Apple Cloud (or OneDrive on Windows).
Does anyone have any experience with this DAZ3D https://www.daz3d.com/1-click-pbrskin product ?
I have it and love it. It is dead simple to use, works very well even in the Alpha, and the creator is in the forum with troubleshooting all the time (I haven't seen anyone having problems with this particular product). I have personally become very fond of pbr skins so I am generally adjusting their shininess, or tone or converting a Genesis 8 figure to PBR and this seriously automates it.
I forgot to mention that.. on my mac, I run the standard Daz Studio (which I rarely use), the beta where the conversion scripts work great, and the alpha which I mail use for rendering.
