    ...OK picking jaw up off of floor now.  Studied Roman History in college (2 term course) and am amazed by this.  We going to see more of ancient Rome in the future? 

    ...aad crowded billboards included, such a deal.

    We'd need a Hippodrome for Ben Hur. But you can do Gladiator and a number of other sword-n-sandles scenes in this.

    There IS a hippodrome modeled on the one in Ben Hur for Poser/DAZ already available over at Renderosity.  This model is MUCH nicer, however,

    This is really stunning, though I personally do not have a real use for it, it is still so amazing that I might buy it and figure something out, LOL. The billboard crowd is a big deal as well. A number of really nice venues are available in Daz, but lack any kind of billboard like this for a crowd. So that is a very nice time saver.

    A lot of people do not venture into the commercial threads that often. So this helps spread the word.

    Wonder why that might be? I check that forum as much as here to see what is coming up or being released. Plus it gives you the chance to interact with the PAs directly, something many seem to want

    I was never happy with the torches in the hallways as doubt they were used

    but the internet is giving me absolutely nothing on what the ancient Romans did use ie olive or fish oil lamps if anything at all

    hanging? earthenware sconces?

    Hi Wendy,

    I checked with my wife, who was Classics Major as an undergrad at Harvard (graduating Magna Cum Laude) and is now a Latin tutor. She says that while the Romans did have oil lamps, she thinks they probably used torches in the Colosseum. She also mentions that they did not hold events at night, only during the day. Not sure if this is helpful. Cheers!

    was only thinking torches don't burn for very long, thing is I don't think anyone really knows

    I tend to think it was a daytime venue only too

    another frustration with this set

    AND DAZ Studio

    why oh why is animating textures in D|S such a chore?
    I created image series and matching cutout opacity for the crowd billboards 

    for nothing 

    unusable 

    both Texanim AND ABAS only do one object one surface and no copy past apply to other surfaces with the same maps

    Are unwieldy, impossible to use on these billboards with their dedicated shader

    grrrrrrr

    set doesn't work in Carrara, the easy option 

    the only other way I could do this maybe is create my own single surface billboard and painfully instance it

    It would be a great benefit to have a series loader for texture images. 3D programs have had that ability for decades.

    I did try and combine the billboards into 2 objects but exporting it destroys the offset UV mapping and one only sees one figure

    it's simply too complex to animate even if DAZ studio worked like other programs 

    though of couse D|S also doesn't let one copy paste individual textures either only a whole shader
