But I don't wanna be a cat
Latest Vicey is clearly Marilyn.

Clearly dressed up like her but doesn't quite land for me. Could she also be Evelyn Moriarty? Or a blend between her and Ms Monroe?
as good as all these celebrity lookalikes are, why would I buy any of them seeing as they are most likely to end up as editorial license if one of these actor's lawyers sends a letter to Daz about it?
Some folk like creating fan art, I guess.
For my use - visual novels - I like celebrity morphs because they're based on real people with real features. I don't use them as is, but I do blend them into my characters to make them a little more distinctive. Many custom characters are incredibly same-y and many of the morph packs, while allowing you to add in more distinctive features, are pretty limiting in that you can begin to pick out repetition when used across characters. Morphs based on real people, on the other hand, can often have distinctive features all over their faces, and they can work very well - at least for me - to quickly create a distinctive character by mixing a few morphs. I mix in a lot of m/v4 characters into my G9 characters for much the same reason.
They don't say editorial only, do they?
Anyway, in the case of famous faces no longer with us, wouldn't the need for an editorial license die with them? Here I am asking for real, rather than rhetorically, as I don't know and would like to know.
Regards,
Richard
When I think about questions like that I'm put in mind of people who have the fortune, or misfortune, to look like some celebrity or other, and put that likeness to use comercially. Do you ever wonder if they pay royalties to the individual to whom they share an appearance with? Do Elvis impersonators? Tribute bands? The latter seems a little more likely due to the convoluted music industry. But likenesses are a tricky thing. Don't some people even have surgery to emulate a particular person? I wouls venture a guess that the problem would only really exist if that likeness was used in some defamatory manner, like deepfakes and AI are oft times being accused of these days.
The legal rights to a celebrity's likeness are usually passed on to the inheretors of their estate, so you face the same legal issues with a deceased celebrity as with a living one; sometimes moreso, as an estate is often far more concerned with protecting an individual as a "brand" than that individual was when they were alive.
But at the end of the day 3D models aren't particularly litigated because they don't necesarily create the impression of a false endorsement. Marlyn Monroe's estate is likely far more concerned with major companies using her likeness without permission than some guy on the internet.
That said, there is still a reason these characters aren't named excplicitly after the celebrities they are modeled after. It's best to avoid anything overly commercial that can be seen as infringing on a celebrity's brand.
I see a toon Treat Williams. Honest.

I fear that I do not, and I'm a big fan of Deep Rising and The Substitute.
Looks a bit like Clive Owen to me - When he was younger.
I can't unsee it.

IMO she looks very much like Evelyn Burdecki, a German Reality TV celebrity.
Morena Baccarin

I was thinking Kelly Piquet to match the theme of the sale. The male figure "looks like Max.
It definitely is her. She played a character named Vanessa in Deadpool.
Vanessa G8.1 on the Renderocity store was actually one of the the first HID figure I bought, along with Jane for 8.1. Glad to see both of these being upgraded to G9 with updated sculpts and textures. These are huge improvements over the G8.1 figures
Hopefully HID3D willl get to upgrade Ellie sometime soon. There is a ridiculous lacking of Christina Ricci models in G9.
I think V3D Lydia HD for Genesis 9 | Daz 3D looks like Laura Fraser as the character, "Lydia Rodarte-Quayle" in "Breaking Bad".
Not exactly the same, but as soon as watched the entire series of Stranger Things this past 2 weeks, I really think these two look very similair:
Copper Twinklefoot for Genesis 8 Male and Drutherson 8 | Daz 3D
And Jamie Campbell Bower
I think V3D Joelle HD for Genesis 9 | Daz 3D looks like Elliot Page, before the sex change.
Somehow Copper looks more like a real person.
