@WinterMoon, your NFC's are utterly gorgeous. They remind me so much of our Fluffy (black) with first a 12week Maine Coon kitten 'Gryff', then with an adult Maine Coon runt of the litter, 'Ozzie' on Squirrel Watch.

Most people seem to think NFC's are big cats, but for some reason they look sorta small to us.

    Regards,

    Richard

Crap! I'm using Imgur for everything. There are 60k pictures on my account!

Like RichardH I can't see the photos due to region limits. We had a wonderful all black NFC called 'Fluffy' because he was, utterly regal cat who was the real boss in our house. Regards, Richard

They are very fluffy! As you can see in the picture I managed to attach, Rufus was so floofy he was almost a round ball. I have other pictures to prove he wasn't massively fat, like that picture makes him look. He wasn't regal though, he was more like the court jester, with his antics. His sister was the princess of all peas.

I've tried attaching pictures of the two rascals.

Very nice cats, I'm glad you could attach them.

@barbult, I am in awe of Richard's tail. Simon would try to chase and pounce it. Charlie would stomp and eat it. Then barf on my pillow afterwards. He likes to share.

And reading everyone's comments of their own furry kittens was fun at 03:00am. Mine decided I needed to be up at 01:00am today.

Maybe I am aging myself, but I saw the term 'birds' and my head went to the slang term for young girls/women from the 1960s. I am not sure if it was the Beatles who popularized it or not?

Cassel Dictionary of Slang says mid-nineteenth century, though it also says first use was c. 1300. Has varying connotations within the general meaning. But yes, it became more fashionable in the sixties and has since faded considerably.

I was a tween (though I don't think that term existed then) in the early 60s. Maybe that is why I have a "bird" avatar, although that never occurred to me when selecting my avatar image.
  • "Bird's' was common in the 1970's, but has really fallen out of use. I have my own theory about the origin of the word. French sophisticates were called 'Chique/Chic'. To someone unused to French pronunciation, the 'ch' becomes hard and the c at the end is pronounced 'ck', getting 'chick'. And when 'chicks' grow up they become 'birds'.. Just a theory, but plausible. Regards, Richard..

Yeah, I remember 'chicks' too. These were the polite fun ones. My grandmother's 'Young LADIES' was somehow derogatory and meant I couldn't do something I found fun.

They're slightly bigger than other housecats, around here. Nowhere near as large as a Maine Coon. If you're used to MCs, an NFC isn't going to look like its much of a size.

I was unwell when the company Christmas meal happened and couldn't join in. The MD brought me a hamper of food to make up for it yesterday. When I opened the hamper, the items immediately visible were cat treats. That's felinomics in action, keep the cat happy and the human will follow. Regards, Richard.

It must be good for the felinomics that Richard added some solvency though?

That's probably the third law - the aopparently bad thing that is humans fault is actually a brilliant move on the part of the cat.

(I hope no one was expecting any laws relating to obeying orders or not causing harm.)

I hope you are feeling better already. Your cat must be pleased.

Nobody would expect such things in this thread! Perhaps someday, in a shocking turnaround, everything in your life here will run smoothly. But you know, probably not. Where would the fun be in that?

Oh I like that idea. She could start a whole band when she gets some siblings. What would we do with multiple Richards, though? One is almost too much to handle. It would be interesting to explore, though. I'll have to let the thought simmer.

Weren't there already several Richards in Dodge City? :)

Not sure how we fell about the idea.

Well, you are right! At least in certainly looked that way. Although Richard denies paternity (and I believe him), he is related to Miss Kitty, and so he is related to her "children". They are probably grown up by now and out prowling around on their own. Perhaps they will come visit him in a future episode.

I meant "Richards" as in units of destr... I mean, totally reasonable alterations ... of course ... uhm ... yeah.

Oh, you meant figuratively. I take things quite literally. See how accurately I have documented the lives of Jack and Richard et al. throughout this forum thread?

I've looked at the tea-leaves and see some vomiting poses in her future. But the leaves are occasionally wrong. Regards, Richard.

barbult, I saw both women at lunch today. They're fine.

One woman had one 16 oz beer, while the other had two glasses of Scotch on the Rocks.

    I had a few more.

I added that product to my wishlist. I'll get it next month.

By the way, you really flatter me with your vision of my humble apartment. Here is a picture.

Imagine having enough room for only two guests... We had to be careful walking around.

Gosh, I hope those leaves are wrong. (No fingers crossed emoji on Daz3D, or I'd add it here.)

I don't want to stray too far from the life of Richard Haseltine, but I was out in my backyard this afternoon with my camera, (it was about 80 degrees F.) I saw several critters.

    • A lizard was on the dirty porch screen.
    • A squirrel was roaming in the grass looking for food.
    • A hawk (I think) flew overhead. It was sudden and unexpected. My shutter speed was too slow to stop the motion.
    • Then I saw a raccoon. Then he saw me. Then he started running in my direction. But luckily he just ran up a tree and not up me! He did look poised to leap off at me, though, so I went inside!

That first image of the raccoon definitely makes it look shifty.

Did you see the one where he first spotted me and looks all puffed up? In other photos his legs look skinny, but in that one they look very fluffy, kind of like a tinsel tail, now that I think about it! The lower part of his legs are hidden behind the little hill, so maybe I just can't see the skinny end.

Ah, I wasn't sure of the original order since the forum doesn't reliably preserve it.
