I don't like to muddle my computer wth the betas, so I always wait. I do upgrade when the betas are made available as main releases. I always keep a copy of DAZ Studio 3.

Where can you download DS3 got a link?

    Thanks

ha ha I forgot all about the way back machine web site

  • Thanks I'm so stupid sometime Dup !

  • I updated from 4.6 to 4.7 in order to get my copy of LAMH working. I am currently on 4.8, and have no plans to update to 4.9, like.. ever, unless they enable us old dinosaurs to continue to organize our content the way we want to. I've tested out every version of DS from the first public beta release on forward, but I was unable to work with it's interface, and so remained 100% on Poser up until version 4.0 came along. Was finally able to work with DS as of 4.0, and at this point I'm basically a DS user except for content creation.

I have a copy of my 4.6 and my 4.8 installs saved to external media, along with my serials, just in case I ever need to reinstall.

Yup I have a bunch of copies

That's odd. Mine doesn't show the installers, only the content packs. I saved my installers, but they are not in my product library. Maybe I never signed up for 3 Beta?

The content packs weren't available separately; can you post a screenshot of what you see?

I have the full version also of Daz 3a  & it has installers but you haver to manually download them.  there no dim

Edit.. this program was $220 bucks.  I got it for 70% off for $79 then shortly after Daz 4 came out for $499 I was one of the early adopter I got it for 50% for $249.  then shortly after that daz started giving Daz 4 away free. I never forgot how stupid I felt for being a early adopter.  I'd post a screen shot of it.. but it has personal information I would not want public., and you wonder why I question daz motives on everything.," once bitten twice shy"  I reckon

Yeah.  As PAs we don't really have a choice on that one.

    I meant this one:

That's just like mine. I think they have a glitch in the store where if you signed up for DS3 Beta, you have all the installers, but if you only signed up for DS3 or DS3A, there is only content installers. They did split the content from the software at one point in the life of DS3. I never installed DS2, I started with DS3, then later, they gave away the auth code for DS3A.

Using Daz Studio 4.6 for Genesis items.

Using  Daz Studio 3 Standard version for pre-Genesis content.

With version 3, I can go into the Scene tab and select one joint in the first finger, hold down the Shift key, and select the last joint in the last finger.  Then in the Parameter tab, I can Bend all 12 joints of all 4 fingers at the same time to quickly make a fist or grasp an object without 12 separate selections and bends.  Same with the Morphing Python and Eastern Dragon -  smooth bends, twists, and posing with multiple selection.  I haven't been able to do that with version 4.

    4.8...I tend to avoid betas.

I normally avoid betas, but this one seemed stable and it fixed some bugs I really wanted fixed. (One of my main characters in my webcomic was basically impossible to render with the right material)

Assumptions of bias based on personal view point may be flawed. For me it is just more practical to use the newer version. Changes to how surfaces work means you need to see them as they will be going forward. And now that smart content works for me I find setting up scenes is much faster than it was before so I save time.

I use the Grasp morph in the M4/V4 Morphs++. You can select all joints as described, then 0 them. Select only the hand and use the grasp morph. The advantage of the grasp morph is that the fingers and the thumb are separate. You can also tweak each finger's grasp.
