My new pc is here. I have everything but DIM currently installed on an external drive. I am moving everything in that external drive over to the secondary drive on the the new pc. Can I then install DIM in the same drive and just change where it points to so it finds in the secondary drive. or should I install DIM onto the C Drive and then point it to everything in the D drive? I shouldn't have to re download any content as its already there

You can install DIM where you like. What is essential is that it points to the new content library.
You should also be aware of the manifest files, as it is them that tells DIM what is installed and where. I would recommend to copy you manifest files, and then batch update so they match the new location. And of course update the manifest path in DIM accordingly.
I have everything pointed at an external drive now, so I am just moving all of those files to the new drive on the pc and then will point DIM to those locations then. I have the manifest files and everything set up like that on the external. Just would like this to go as smoothly as possible lol.
Thank you!
First, full disclosure. I use an iMac so my experience my be different than on Windows. I have a 2020 iMac 27" with a one terabyte SSD drive and my Daz content is nearly two terabytes. So, an external drive is my only option for my content. I tried for awhile using DIM on the external SSD drive but it was far less than ideal. I'd get it to work and then it would randomly stop working and blah and yada. Studio and DIM are installed in my iMac's hard drive while my two content libraries are on my external SSD drive. This works for me much, much better. Maybe, and I have no way of knowing this, on Windows, the issues I was having won't be a problem.
Honestly, this secondary storage is a apparenlty a network drive. It looks like I may have to install the actual program on the c drive and store the content on the other drive as it is not recognizing that the network drive is a valid file application or something. I'm going to call my guy on Monday, and see what can be done about that but honestly, I had it set up that way with the external drive i had previously so will probably just go with that. Appreciate the insight
