Looking for shorts for a G8F

Greetings, I'm looking for a fantasy short with opened sides like in this screenshot (Dragon Dogma 2)

Thanks for reading !

  • I really don't know anything exactly like that shown. However, Aery Soul is synonymous with fantasy for me. And their 'Elven Strapped' is a bit like it, and free, for V3/V4. So, if you have a V3 or V4 clone for G8, then Elven Strapped may be worth investigating. Regards, Richard.

Or  maybe Sue Yee's Strappy Jeans?

  • They'd be much better. Regards, Richard.
  • Wow, thanks a lot MelanieL ! It fits well to what I'm looking for. Thanks Richard, I remember the elven Strapped from ES, used it a lot on Poser 7 back in the day, but I'm afraid to be unable to use it correctly on G8 -_-'

  • If you were handy with Photoshop or a similar program you might be able to create a cutout map for a pair of shorts that are otherwise suitable.

I couldn't help but convert that old Aeon Soul (Every Soul?) to G8F.

I tried autofit, and the pants behaved decently, but some of the strings in the top deformed. So I decided to do a manual conversion.

Then I realised the converted tops strings didn't behave so nice with different sizes breast, so I decided to simulate the strings. That didn't go so well as dForce (and DS) just froze. Only a kill could solve it. Then I realised that there was a number of double verteces in the top. After having taking care of that it behaved properly.

That's interesting, @Felis, thanks. Am I right, that when you cut out the things you tried but didn't work, you'd 1) autofit to G8, 2) export as obj, 3) merge vertices in a modeller and export as a new obj, 4) import the new obj into DS, 5) then convert to figure, and 6) transfer rigging from G8F? Hope I've got that right. Regards, Richard.

I could have done that, but one of the laces in the top deformed badly when autofitting (why I didn't investigate), so I decided to take the V4 top and G8F into blender, and just fit it there.

When I then realised that Daz couldn't simulate it, I guessed that there might be some double vertecex. And cleaining that up in blender is easy. After that is was just a new transfer to G8F and it was good. It is only the laces that has dynamic strength for simulation. I furthernore lowered gravity to 0.1, else the laces would bend downwards.

  • Ahh. That's a shame. Blender and I are not on speaking terms. Well, I shout and scream, Blender never finishes the first command I ever tried to do. So long ago I no-longer remember what it was, but it's still there , incomplete and refusing to go away when I open the program, held over from the first time I ever used Blender. And none of the thousands of hours of video tutorials there are can ever help me. I simply can't learn from video. Text, yes, video, no. And are there any text tutorials? Not last time I looked. So, I now have a Blender free life. Regards, Richard.

I don't have it and it's not exactly cheap, but do you know about Blender Secrets?

Regarding your problem, I don't remember having Blender launching stuck at the last command I did, did you try to un-install it?

Edit: I forget, about the original topic.

I looked at the usual 'suspects', but could not find a fantasy looking strappy short: they are either too modern, or not for genesis 8, or both and the closest one (with a zip tie that will likely look a bit out of place in a fantasy settings) is the succubus outfit by Herschel Hoffmeyer.

You'll have to hide the straps for the stockings if you don't want to use them. A way to do so would be to create a Conditional Graft, Mada has a video on the subject:

I know there are longer pants which lace at the sides. The geometry editor could be ypur friend at shortening the pant legs.
