Arranging tabs in floating docks drives me insane

I had to replace a monitor, Windows changed screen order, my workspace layout I only touch every few month doesn't work anymore, I lost a complete dock with 10 tabs or so.

There is a dock with tabs I have no recollection of ever creating but since it is there I'm willing to reuse it and save a new layout, but: I cannot change tab order or remove tabs from that dock.

Pointers appreciated.

Switching off one "off screen pane group" miraculously got me the missing dock back on one of the screens, I saved that, but now I cannot change the tab order, I had do re-add "Scene", now it's on the ast position. Any way to edit this?

  • Is Window>Workspace>Lock Docking/Undocking checked?

  • Yes.

  • The only tab that's not named Dz<tab>Pane is "Scene", that is named "DzHierarchyPane". That figured I got my layout together editing the user layout dsx file.

    Yes.

That will stop you from dragging and droping panes, then.

  • Yes, it does rather.

  • More woes: monitor disconnected, floating dock disappeared, made it re-appear by trick: Window->Workspace->Off Screen Pane Tab Groups, uncheck one, check again, pops up in one of the monitors.

But so far moved up that the top edge is still off screen, so I cannot move it.

I'll edit the workspace file, too, but really, that's just not good at all.

Is there a key shortcut to activate the move function?

  • Off Screen Pane Groups should centre the panes - have you tried running it again after undocking a pane (which is what close/open does in effect)?

  • Yes, and it came out at a position "-60" in the dsx file. I manually editied that to 0, then reloading the workspace did it.

(By the way, can one have a key shortcut "load latest saved workspace layout" somehow or change the default workspace Studio loads?)

  • By default DS stores the session layout (the current state) on exit and loads that on launch, it isn't reloading a named layout. However, the command line can be used to edit that behaviour http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/tech_articles/command_line_options/start and a script could load a layout.

Multiple Instances issue, I kept some open. Gonna start a fresh set. Edit: fixed.
