The one thing I object to...why did the premier only add on have to be female?! It's not like there's an abundance of male figures and a shortage of female.
Perfect timing (KPDH) and amazing bargain! I threw everything at this cart and got the two bundles for $6.94 and $7.71. Not mad about that!
Once again the add-on bundle is more interesting for me than the character bundle, I love the hanbok outfit.
I'm definitely grabbing both bundles though (as well as the Ming dress)
Finally another male character, and a pleasant one! Now the ratio of female to male base characters is only 50 to 36...
And 'of course' the new CB is not yet on the list. What does Daz expect from these regular delays? I've already put the bundle in the cart and entered the code. Until they're ready, I'll definitely have the add-on bundle; that's at least as good as the character bundle.
Instant buy for me! I like everything about him. I've got my first cart built, waiting for the character bundle to be added to the Premier selection so I can add my coupon and check out. Then I'll get the add-on bundle too. I'm glad I saved my discount options for today!
I had the main bundle, the add-on bundle, the two textures and the lovely Ming dress in my cart along with my gift and the $2.99 item. With my DO coupon and tokens it still wiped out my available credit. I had to make the hard choice, blow my budget or wishlist and hope for a miracle in a few days. So my cart will be the gift and $2.99 item and credit left over.
Regardless, I appreciate all the efforts of the PAs who worked on these products.
I really like him. He looks a lot like the actor Seo In-guk, but enough not like him to not run afoul of South Korea's image laws.
I have been waiting for the Hanbok outfit. Absolutely essential if you want to do human-like demons from Korean myths.
What Sword is in the Shadow Warrior Poses?
The promos make him look somewhat stylized. I wonder how he looks next to the other Core Figures.
Looks like it's the katana from this set: Highland Swords.
Some face portraits of Jaewon and one of Jun-Hee. I didn't use "out of the box" settings. So the lips look a bit red. I'm not that impressed with the skin texture. Though, it is nice to have more diversity to the DAZpool.
is it possible to change the lip coloring?
"I didn't use "out of the box" settings." implies it has been
I didn't outright change any of the textures, just used different ambient and spec maps from other products. All the diffuse maps and subsurface scattering (SSS) maps are from Jaewon 9. DAZ default settings just make the products look washed out and desaturated. The lips are quite rosy even with DAZ out of the box settings. Mine just look noticeable because of my settings. First image of Out of the Box, second image is my kitbash (with a translucency weight of .80), third image has a translucency weight of .90.
He's passable, but his accessories are pretty lacking. Has anyone else noticed thet the Temple Grounds in the Add-On button is marked as a PC+ item and shows up in that section? EDIT - this has just been changed in the store to a regular DAZ original Also... I'm really puzzled about the design of the "combat flight suit", as not only does that stiff high collar block a large portion of the pilot's field of vision... kind of a bad thing for a fighter pilot... but can you imagine sitting in a flight seat and pulling heavy gs with thosde two filled pockets trapped between your back and the seat? And why would you put pockets in the middle of your back in any case, as it's pretty much the least convenient place on the entire body? (And yeah, in case you're wondering, actual Korean pilots wear suits that are pretty much the same as US pilots wear.)
excellent character, Jaewon 9! i often found G9 charas less interesting/well made than G8M, so i couldn't have cared less about not being able to afford them. however, for this one i'll make an exception to get him in my pool - i'll bug a friend so i can buy Jaewon even i'm quite broke! ^^
EDIT: got him!
- still think he's an awesome character!
anyway. can someone tell which hair has been used in some of the promos? no list...
#1-19-25-26 is obviously dForce Mid Part Waves Hair for G9
i'd like to know about
#2 (same as 3, 8, 9, 10)
#12 (4x full-body shot with briefs)
#22 (mirror portrait)
#29 (simple red bgd)
Here are the hair assets I think you're looking for:
#2: French Crop for Genesis 9
#12: Fraiz Hair for Genesis 9
#22: dForce AK Handsome Hair for Genesis 9, 8, and 8.1 (this is the one I'm least sure about)
#29: dForce Strand-Based FE Pixie Bob Hair for Genesis 9
When I image search 'kpop idol boy' I can see the intent even if I don't love the colouring.
I like it & it will buy the bundle I get this month unless a Filatoon or Christmas themed bundle appears before Jan 01.
thank you so much MissLeah ! and even if #22 isn't the one on the promos, it looks awesome too - maybe even better. a nice bunch of hair fitting Jaewon well ^^
Sorry if there's another thread that discusses this, but I'm wondering if the helmet included in his flight suit is an item he can hold. All the promos show him wearing it or it's not present. I have a modern helmet he could use, but I like the look of this sci-fi one.
Sorta-kinda but not easily. It IS a seperate piece, BUT there are a couple of desgin-flaws that would require a lot of kit-bashing or postwork to fix if it was to be shown being carried: First and foremost, the rubber neck-gasket and part that meshes with the bodysuit are included on the same mesh and texture as the "hard shell" part of the helmet, rather than being done as a completely seperate texture, nor is there a preset to hide them. Beyond that, there's a basic fundamental design problem in that the neck opening of the helmet itself is actually too small proportionately for a pilot to actually pull it over their head in real-life... this wouldn't be as much of an issue if there was a hinge or seam that showed the a way to unfold the helmet in order to remove it, but there isn't currently anything like that. Then there's another couple of weird texture decisions in how the helmet lighting displays are just emissive textures that are part of the two sepearte glass textures, which unfortunately each also include part of the metal helmet itself, so one can't just apply a glass shader. So, yes, the helmet by itself could be used as a seperate prop if you go to the trouble of making new textures and/or cutout opacity masks, but it's not a simple out of the box solution. HOWEVER, there is a cheat:, the colllar cowl is also a seperate prop element, so one could fudge things by placing the cowl and helmet together and pretending that the cowl is actually the bottom of the helmet.
Thanks for the detailed response, Cybersox! Now I know the helmet is pretty much limited to a clothing item (at least for me).
