I'm sad about the fact that the PA breeze seems to have moved away from their absolutely lovely and very useful combined clothing + poses + morphs sets, which are easily among my favorite products of all times. See here for example: https://www.daz3d.com/brz-romantic-rain-interactive-poses-for-genesis-9. They are versatile, very well made and truly romantic, which is something we seldomly see around here. Instead, they seem to be heading ever deeper into sexy maid costume territory - in line with most of the new products here, which makes it even more unfortunate.

@breeze, if you happen to come across this, here's someone who really adored your earlier sets! Would you not reconsider?

@tsroemi, after I looked at some of @breeze's products I tried the 'Only show owned' option and found that I have owned many of breeze's products under a previous name, 'diordercode faintblue' I am not sure which one. But they both absolutely seem to have mastered simulation extremely well. I would like to know if the coat/dress could cover up more than just underwear. That would make it very versatile.

Some of the promos shows it with the top button closed, if that's what you mean.

No that is not it. More like if the coat is over a dress, skirt/blouse, tee shirt/pants essentially be able to fit over other clothing layers. That would expand its usefulness. I realize with 3D clothing there is always an issue with layers and explosions, ... and that a PA could not anticipate every possible combination a user might come up with. But, I would not consider that coat/dress a dress by any means.

But thank you for pointing out that button, I had not seen it.

Good catch. I also have many breeze's products, but not that pose set.

    I especially like their https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-brz-mens-suits-and-poses-for-genesis-9

and have used this set in couple of renders.

I'm tempted to buy PFL 1911 on day 1. The attention to detail is outstanding.

Thanks for the info, I'll definitely look that up as well! - As to the coat, it does have expand morphs and I used it over a skirt for sure, with thickener applied - the last measure is always very, very useful for outer garments, I find. I can't quite remember if I put a shirt on the damsel as well - am attaching the pic since gallery linking doesn't work anymore, so you see what I mean, why I can't quite remember. But the coat played nicely with the skirt after some morphing, and I loved the way it generally behaved in that render.

Oooh, I really really like the two Princess items today, the hair https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-princess-series-golden-era-curls and also the uniform https://www.daz3d.com/princess-series-high-command-for-genesis-9! I do see some flaws with the uniform, but the overall make is really neat, and it seems we've got ourselves an admiral here! That makes the other colors than blue or white a bit weird, but it says it's fantasy and just inspired by real life and history, so I'm good with it. It looks gorgeous for sure!

Thank you very much for the wonderful render showing it can be done. I will put that outfit on my wishlist for that reason alone. I love your render and the action you have in it. It reminds me of the 1940s mystery/spy movies I used to love to watch as a kid.

I was actually planning to do some more in this style, just haven't gotten round to it cause of other stuff. Now I definitely will!

I just want to say how much I appreciate everything about today's Holidaz Deal - LY OtherKind: Shadow Kin HD for Genesis 9.

Not only is the product awesome, with tons of quality promo shots, but the marketing copy is amazing. Even if I wasn't already going to buy it, the sheer quality of the presentation itself would have convinced me.

Excellent job all the way around, Lyoness!

This! It was a no brainer to put it in my cart at that price.

Same, I have a ton of characters and no immediate need for these in particular, but they just looked so good that I couldn't pass them up... and the price meant I didn't have to put the energy into either talking myself into or out of it. :D

Pictures? Wait, what? We're supposed to use our products? xD

(But seriously, I do wonder how the buying to rendering ratio will be in December...)

No one seems to have mentioned that Valentina is now available on the install tab of Daz  Studio for those Premier members.

And so promptly after her release! If you're paying to rent a character, they should arrive on time, just like your money does.

Do folks really use these characters? I avoid them since I don't own the reuse rights for them.

I use them all the time.  Granted, I only render (you own all rights to your render even if you use it commercially): what rights are you worried about losing? I think I would be more worked up for people who make stuff for games but I don't know the details.

I make things for ongoing stories. If I used one of these characters in a story and then needed that character to appear again in the story, losing access to the asset would be a problem. Sure, for something that's one-off, they work just fine. Not everything I do is one-off.

I guess I'm curious how many folks do one-offs vs long-term figure work. :)

I suppose i could leave Daz at some point but, if you include Zygote, I have been here over 27 years and that isn't likely to change soon so I haven't had long term issues.  I do find that I am very unlikely to use 25 year old technology but i still have the files. My first purchase from Daz3d was roughly 25 years ago and I still have the files.

Hmm. I'd suggest that re-visiting some (not all) of the old files is actually worth it. Here's V3 re-worked wearing G8F clothes & hair and some V3 jewels.

    Regards

The premier-exclusive characters work only while you are a Premier member, if you stop your membership you can't use them anymore. That's what they meant by "losing access"

Understood, but I am not likely to do that in the next 10 or 15 years.  If situations occur that would force me to, then I have bigger problems than a hobby.  I understand that there are people who sign up and drop out frequently but I'm not sure what percentage of people that is. I also have seen how the landscape of 3d (and computers for that matter) change over periods of 10 years.  Realistically, i would loose my house if I stopped paying my mortgage and I am going to do my best to keep that going.

I just installed OtherKind: Shadow Kin HD for Genesis 9.  I’m a hobbyist and the multitude of options in materials and shaping will keep me busy trying to figure them out but the files in the Documents tab mystify me as to how to use them.  They are not files that open a document or provide a pop-up window of information.  Any advice/help will be appreciated.  Thanks.

its not just that though. 3D companies merge, get sold, close shop, all the time. At any point since you never own those encrypted extras you could lose access to them permanently as the terms could completely change in the future, regardless of whether you decided to keep paying your Daz "mortgage". It's not how a lot of us like to work. I don't like uncertainty. I never pay for subscription type services because of that reason. When I buy something, I want to be able to back it up, and keep it in my library regardless of what may happen to the company in the future.

It's also nothing like a mortgage, which is a payment contract that, when complete, transfers ownership from the creditor to the purchaser. These Premier exclusive characters are rentals.

I just need to put this out here because it's eating me up inside right now: I love Linday's hairs, but their promos have always been borderline p@rnographic, and with the latest product ( https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-classic-loose-curls-long-hair-for-genesis-9-8-and-81-female), the're moving even beyond that. The character looks so cartoonishly over-sexualized, botoxed and plain dumb that I feel personally insulted as a woman. I'm deleting their stuff from my WL for now, there needs to be a line somewhere.

Aside from the motif, I really can't even guess what the hair would look like on a normal character. Where's the sense in that? No seriously, this screw needs to be rewound a few notches. And it's not just Linday (Linday is just the one where it hurts cause I like their stuff so).

Did that after the Mediterrean Boat and Poses dropped. Made me puke. Not an attitude toward women I wish to encourage.
