Importing Hands dial-ups into Blender?

Hi,
I'm trying to find a way to get DAZ hands dial-ups into Blender, but I'm not sure it's even possible?
I love the convenience of quickly posing fingers that way.

Thanks!

Should work with any method, either "daz favorites" in easy import or "import custom morphs" in setup. If it is using the daz body morphs then you have to include them too. What exactly doesn't work ?

    Hi Padone,
I've tried again today and it's working. Go figure. I couldn't get them to import for the life of me yesterday.
    Silly me 8^)

    Thanks!

I finally got around to using the hand dial-ups today and noticed that only a few of the morphs imported via Diffeo.
All thirty G9 hand poses were flagged as Favorites in DS, but only 8 of them per hand were imported.
I've looked for hidden morphs in DS but didn't see anything related to the hands.

Same with the G8F hand dial-ups. Only a few of the poses get imported.
I've tried a custom morph import, but that didn't help either.
Blender's console window didn't reveal any errors during import that I could see.

Any idea why so many of them fail to import?

Just tried and works fine here, all the morphs are imported. I used "custom morphs" as it is easier then "daz favorites" in this case, though importing custom morphs requires a bit more of attention. The set is using the hand body morphs so you have to import them as well. Let me know if this works for you.

    my steps:

    1. easy import G8 with "MHX compatible" body morphs
    2. import the custom morphs for the hands set, I didn't import the aliases as they are only used in the daz interface, plus I checked "make hidden sliders" to get all the morphs listed

To see where the morphs are located I clicked the parameter settings in daz studio.

    "My Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\Neikdian\Hands Dial-up"

update. I also tried with "daz favorites" and works fine here, it's just tedious to select them all in DS so "custom morphs" seems easier to me in this case.

    my steps:

    1. in daz studio select all the morphs as favorites
    2. in blender easy import with "MHX compatible" body morphs and "daz favorites"

OK, thanks Padone. I try it again tomorrow.
I wonder if I omitted the body morphs.
I used the same path to the morphs during custom import, but my figure might have been lacking some morphs to begin with.
    This stuff sure ain't easy...

This is also a perfect case to depict one important difference between blender and daz studio. For this hands set there's a set of poses which reference to a set of morphs wich reference to the figure standard set of body morphs for the hands.

hand poses < hand morphs < body morphs

Thus in blender we have to import the body morphs to make the hand morphs work, then import the hand morphs to make the hand poses work. Such a network of references is typical of daz studio and never used in blender for native files. That is, blender would simply have the hand poses in a library.

To convert this set for blender the best way would be to bake the poses in daz studio, then import the baked set in a blender library. Unfortunately it's also a lot of work, so it may not be worth it.

    steps:

    1. in daz studio: edit >figure > bake to transform, then save the pose preset for each morph
    2. in blender: runtime > posing > import asset

    https://bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/wiki/Posing/Import Pose Library

p.s. Or another option could be to bake in blender instead of baking in daz studio, then save the pose assets. The saved poses will only work on the specfic rig though, I mean if we save poses for rigify they will not work on MHX or the daz rig, so importing poses directly from daz has its advantages.

Hi Padone, thanks for the explanations! Very useful.

I finally tried the import on another machine and it worked just fine. Go figure...
Must be something funky in the Diffeo settings on my other machine. I'll re-install Diffeo on it and go from there.
