[HALF SOLVED] Symmetry on a custom Figure

I can't find a way to make Mirror poses for my Hermit Crab.
Doing it manually is really fastidious.
Does the Symmetry feature only works on Genesis/Human Figures?

I have never tried it, but this may work. Try, in the symmetry dialogue box, adding to the 'Left Node Prefix' entry ',Left' and similarly ',Right' to the 'Right Node Prefix' entry and then trying it.
I think DS is case sensitive.

Richard
As you can see in the symmetry dialogue the l/r, left / right must be either first or last to work for symmetry.
Thank you for your answer. The prefix thing is not case sensitive.
I realize now that I rigged my figure symmetrically in order to have identical sliders and coherent Property Labels for the Left and the Right Legs and Arms. (ie back is negative, front is positive for both L & R).
For some reason, Genesis Figures are unsymmetrically rigged, wich (at least for me) seems illogic and weird. ie you move the R Shoulder Front-Back slider and the Shoulder goes Back-Front.
That's why DS Symmetry tool inverts the Y and Z values, but not the X axis value.
I don't want to re-rig my Figure, It would ruin weeks of working on poses and animations.
I think editing the poses .duf files in a text editor should do the job.
I want my Crab to become a freebie before Xmas!
Regards,
Jean
Thank you for your answer!
My bones hierarchy is correctly named.
Please read my answer to richardandtracy, now I know why I had weird results.
I think the reason that Daz's rigging left-right is "opposite" is they are using Euler angles where the rotation order always is the same.
Thanks for the info, I'm really dumb on mathematics, I'm rather a "visual" artisan.
Editing the .duf files is quite easy, it's a 3 steps process.
Anyway Bernard the Hermit Crab seems to be very happy!
Cute
You have to make sure the Node Names rather than Lables of the joints are identical (except for the prefix)... otherwise Symmetry won't work.
Pls be noted that: 1) only prefix works; 2) prefix is case-sensitive, i.e. you have to add capitalized letters into settings of Symmetry if there's any...
And, yes, Symmetry only works on vertical plane (Y/Z) but not coronal plane (Y/X) ~
Thank you for your answer and teaching!
You're right, prefix is case sensitive. I made a confusion between Node Names and Node Labels.
But anyway I can't use the Symmetry feature because of my symmetrical rigging. Symmetry inverts the Y and Z + / - values and manual corrections are fastidious.
Editing the Poses .duf files is easier and works well.
Have a nice day!
IIRC there are options in the symmetry window which enable you to select what to invert, that might help with your figure.
Thank you for the info.
I've searched everywhere, but I can't find any such options.
Have a nice day!
