Request to the PAs making coffee shops

There are a lot of fantastic coffee shop sets in the store. Thank you, PAs for the options! However, you're all leaving out one thing:

The cup lids.

There are cups with lids on, ready to serve. There are stacks of cups waiting for a delicious beverage. But there are no stacks of lids to go with the stacks of cups! (Also, very rarely are there stir sticks or sugar/creamer packets.) So where do those lidded cups come from??

I can certainly kitbash my own lid stack if I have to, but maybe for authenticity's sake, folk might consider including them in the sets?

@SilverGirl, I was searching for travel cups and thought to check the Zeddicus store and found https://www.daz3d.com/z-everyday-coffee-cup-and-poses-for-genesis-9 which have a disposable tall cup and lid. The lid is listed as able to Lid On/Off preset. Unfortunately, I just read that the lid is just visible on or off materials. Sorry, thought I found something for you to use. But, I don't know if because it is separated to be turned off, you could use Geometry Editor to cut it free and you it to stack?

Along that note, for the PAs, I would love more travel cups/mugs. I found one in https://www.daz3d.com/fg-library in my library but the top is without details and after specifically looking for one, this new set by Fugazi, https://www.daz3d.com/fg-seattle-style-coffee. But, I would love a separate lid, so it could be held in one hand as it is positioned over the mug to be twisted on. I have a group of them with no handles and handles, openings that can be closed and washed fully, and those that slide and allow bacteria to build under the slide closure.

I agree there are a lot of little items that are crucial to realistic take-out areas and that clutter helps build realism. Little pots of cream that never made their way into the trash, spills of liquid and sugar & substitues, as a pack is opened, shreds of litter. Packaging after eating, left on a table or floor, (crumbs are available in the store now), as some folks have little respect for the mess and the baristas are too busy taking care of customers' orders. (I sit in a Target Starbucks five days a week waiting for someone to get off work, and see all kinds of stuff.) And of course there are 'free-range kids' left there by moms/dads.

I recommend a PA take the time to hang out in a coffee shop, drink something, read or take notes of what they are seeing.

Hmmm, I have a coffee cup with lid sitting on my computer. Part of a product I made some time ago and never released. If I have some time I may package it up to release as a freebie.

The stack of coffee cup lids could be done by a linear array of a single lid being arrayed sidways (for more than 1 stack) and upwards - upward spacing 0.3cm, sideways 7cm? Maybe more, maybe less. Something like my 3D Linear Array script could do it, using a row setting of 1 or more, column setting of 1 or more and a layer setting of however many you want in the stack (probably under 50). Just play with the settings to get the right spacings.

Where there is no single lid without a cup, you can set the cup bit to transparent so only the lid is visible. Then you array the invisible cup and visible lid. There is really very little penalty on your system from instancing a transparent cup with visible lid compared to instancing just a lid.

    Regards,

    Richard

I just downloaded a file from my runtime https://www.daz3d.com/i13-trendy-coffee-shop-environment and there is a commercial to-go cup and the lid sits on top of the cup. It is able to be lifted off. Maybe that one can be used to make a stack? After reading Richard's suggestion for instancing this might work out.

If you don't have this set already, I would wishlist it as it goes on sale often. Right now it is only like 30% off. It was on sale a little bit ago as $2.99 and maybe @SilverGirl you bought it?

Thank you so much for the suggestions, all! (Sorry I'm so slow to reply; my attention's been all over the place this week.) I'm pretty good at geometry editor at this point (and a kind soul DM'ed me with a separate lid they made) -- my thought was more that this was a realism gap that PA's clearly hadn't considered, and I know I'd want the heads up if it was me. (Also, having one in the set would be merciful for those starting out who haven't gotten far enough for altering stuff yet.) Also agree with @memcneil70 on the extra realism items that could make the next coffee shop offering really stand out!

@WendyLuvsCatz - I like that idea. All sorts of food containers would be versatile and useful to a lot of folks, I would think! (But then, I'm a proud hobbit, so I'm biased, heh.)
