I should know the answer to this but its been more than a couple of years... I have Daz 4.12 Beta running, but am curious if I can load a later version that is not Beta and keep 4.12. I would like to try a newer version but i've been told that the latest may not work well with my less than newer laptop lol. I am quite happy with what I have but am curious

Yes, that should be safe - settings are not shared and I don't think there would be aby problems with the database (though I would back up first, and export user data too).
Yes, General Release and Public Build (Beta) can be run at the same time. So, you can install the latest DS 4.24 General Release ~~ But better make a backup of your current General Release... just in case.
I don't think I currently have a general release loaded on this machine
How would I do that? all of my content is on a separate drive. Can I just back up and export data thats on my C drive, the parts that actually run it?
I also have another external drive, I guess I could just copy the whole thing to that?
Also when I download it, should i leave that separate drive disconnected? I have everything in DIM set to go that drive, but 4.12 Beta does have the files that actually run Daz on the C drive.
Not the content, the database and the user data (non-store entries in the database).
The database is in the ContentCluster folder (Edit>Preferences?CMS Settings) and should be backed up when nothing is using it (all Daz applications closed).
To export user data open the Content Library option menu (the lined/"hamburger" button in the top corner or right-click the tab), seelct Content DB Maintenance, check Export User data and Accept.
Okay I have copied the content cluster folder to the external drive in a separate fold. Side note, I apparently have Daz studio 8.1 or something also backed up lol. I am exporting my user data and then I guess we will give it a go. Thank you!
Well that seems to have worked perfectly. Thanks again!
