Leather, metal...somewhere and toilet paper does not an armor make.....
It's perfect for an emergency stop at the loo in the middle of nowhere though: there is next to nothing to remove and you have toilet paper easily accessible.
I used to have a crossbow with a 150lb ( 68kg) pull (correction, I still have, but I can't cock it anymore). The bolts would pass through pine planks 2" (50mm) thick. The bolts did not pass through newspaper 2" (50mm) thick. The impact between each layer of paper absorbed energy. So, surprisingly enough you might be able to make armour from newspaper, even if not toilet paper.
Regards,
Richard
Ancient Chinese people actually made armor from paper at some point. They were made from a bunch of squares of folded paper coated with some resin or lacquer, and were considered a very good option for foot soldiers as they were light weight and could stop arrows, swords and even early firearms.
Silk was used too, as I recall.
Thank you for the support, caravelle! <3
In case you didn't scroll down enough (I almost didn't, lol), because the sale is lackluster, I wanted to bring everyone's (i.e. people who like shaders) attention to today's Better Than Daz+ item, namely Wood Carvings Iray Shaders. Nelmi did a good job, and for that price it's a no brainer.
Also, a special shoutout to FenixPhoenix and Nathy for being so responsive to the users. I hope you sell a lot of copies of your products and that you'll continue making such great stuff! Thank you!
Thank you - I had stopped browsing in the promo page before I reached the shaders.
And you can never have to many shaders
Yeah, I stopped browsing too the first time around. Only later I scrolled down a bit more by accident, and my brain went, "Why haven't I seen those before?!" so I thought I'd share in case there are others like me :D
Thank you, Joanna. I am happy to report the product has been doing very well, so we are both happy and appreciative for all the support. :)
Nonetheless, absolutely spectacular!
damn I really don't want to be ungrateful but I actually can easily extrude vases of any shape in Carrara's vertex room myself
also https://www.shapemagic.com/products.htm makes a mean vase
Vases are leading with 3 to 2 in front of balloons. It might be a tight run, but we will see whos winning. It is a long race, and you never know what is going to happen!
off topic, but would Shape Magic Road Maker be useful for creating roads in UltraScenery? It's something I see people asking about.
I have suggested it but I tend to be ignored in that thread because I don't use it much or post renders, I certainly use it in Carrara
Lovely render, Nemesis! Thank you for sharing and thank you for your support! <3
Druids and Stellar Sands City are both wishlisted for a later buy. Much storytelling potential with each. (And they could easily be combined.)
I like Ansiko's new release, Surgical Strike | Daz 3D not as much as a lot of Ansiko products, but enough to use as my doorbuster release. Its pretty darn detailed.
I have to say that Nelio is an outstanding example of Post Modern Archiecture. It gets the feel completely.
And because of that, while I appreciate the quality and faithfulness of the model, I would NEVER have it. My entire being revolts against such architecture. In architectural terms, I am probably a very late Victorian with Gothic Revival tendancies, though I do enjoy Paladian houses. I can appreciate when something is very well done without having to like it, and Nelio is superbly done. For that, I must congratulate FW Design. But it's not for me.

Richard
I occasionally dream about my old brutalist architecture tertiary collage that no longer exists, parkour enthusiasts would have loved it
Torrens Collage Underdale
its very hard to find any images of it, they seem to have removed it from history after they demolished it.
The concrete stairways from Nelio are very reminiscent of it but the overall structure was a series of interconnected octagonal buildings some with atriums that enveloped all 3 floors, thick concrete balconies
I thought it was cool like MoonBase Alpha on Space 1999
update not that anyone cares, I went down a whole rabbithole with ChatGPT5 trying to find out more about it, got lots of search links for libraries etc but not much else
I would guess Brutalism rather than Post Modernism.
Thank you Richard. I didn't see it at all on the main shop page but it is now in my cart. I appreciate your POV, but I see them as being perfect for Sci-Fi. I also love historical styles just as much, and there are some PAs who focus on those eras which I will buy immediately, or wishlist if I have too.

I do think some of the poses in https://www.daz3d.com/z-pose-library-walking-mega-set-for-genesis-9-and-8-female are really good - the less overt, hip dislocating, back arching, chest thrusting ones. In fact, the poses in the attached image. They are a really good basis for lots of everyday type scenes & I like them lots. It's great to see 'everyday' poses rather than 'model on a catwalk trying to pretend they're human' poses (yes, I did watch MIB). The images are a montage from the Zeddicuss sale page just so I can show the ones I particularly like. There is no intention to indicate I have any rights to them.

Richard
Are there both flat feet and heels versions of all poses? Product page doesn't seem to say anything about this (should be obligatoric).
Judging by the file list in the readme and the promo pic with all poses, there's only one version of the full body poses but there are partial feet poses for flat feet, low heels and high heels.
Yeah... if only people wearing heels didn't balance so much differently than people walking flat-foot. That one on the far right, for example... you can't just change the feet and have it still look right.
OK, thanks.
Exactly. Besides, heels damage women's feet and must be terrible to wear and dangerous to walk in so I won't support this male fetish trend in any way (and I am a male btw).
