You need to by something to eat, to be able to buy alcohol at bars. The bar owners invented the plastic wrapped sandwich, which you order, and then return for a refund.*
* This was the law in Sweden until 1955, and the exact thing happened.

'Give a flower to the Oni' was a tv show in which the candidates were tasked to do something nice for members of the lower class - exemplified by the Oni. The show got canceled after an incident that traumtized a lot of children since it was unfortunately broadcasted live.

To increase the number of customers, The Bishop's Arms pub in Swiss alps, invented the game Duck a Duck. The participants run around the pub garden with a pint in their hands, while an ancient portal shoots extra terrestrial rubber ducks at them. The winner is the person doing ten laps, and still having at least a half pint in the glass when crossing the finishing line. The game was banned by the Swiss government as the rubber ducks were seen as illegal aliens.

Robot Servants Upgrade
No one wanted to compete in Atlantida's Annual Games, so programmer Lola was requested to train the servant robots for it. Because the robots didn't understand competition, she had to give them a little upgrade. The Games were very entertaining that year, but the robots were no longer useful as household servants. Lola was not able to fix them so they were sent on off-world missions that required their new features.
