Cancel preview render?

Is it possible to cancel the preview render? I mean the render when I click on the camera and create a selection.
Often, you just want to quickly check something as soon as it's visible. Then it usually takes a long time until the rest of the image you don't need is visible.
Thanks

That sounds like the spot render tool. I don't think so, but it shouldn't take long. Maybe check your video settings in preferences, like display list (maybe sw vs OpenGL renderer) or see if changing the 3D View controls (interactive) has an effect. It should render pretty quickly and come back. Just hold the X key while you drag a small test render area. If you hold the X key down continously, the spot render goes away, Also hitting Esc key seems to abort it. It depends on your performance though, like any other rendering.

Might be easier to adjust render settings in render room and just render a faster, smaller image. That would be a useful plugin for C to create presets or macros.  Would be very useful. You could try scripting it with something like autoit. There is a python carrara plugin, right?

Thanks for the tip. It's the tool with the camera icon.
I was able to speed it up a bit by switching from Open GL to software. Everything is rendered a bit faster then.

A script or a preset for a quick little render would certainly be helpful, but in my case, it's mostly to check whether the object is properly positioned on the ground, or whether it's sinking or flying.

In the render room there is already an option for presets (orange/amber arrow). No need for a plugin or script.

You can also make your own presets by altering the settings in the properties pane and clicking the save-icon (red arrow) to save it.

Thanks RuudL. I thought there was some kind of preset. Had a vague recollection.

Thank you, I didn't know this and sounds very useful!
