  • This is a real shame. There were lots of free stuff on there that won't be around anymore because the creators aren't.around anymore. The rendering world is a lot smaller now.

Maybe someone around has a copy of them, @nightkin. I think any of us would be more than happy to provide their creator with a copy, in case we have them :-)

  • So the situation is even more sad... Was browsing some old freebies at Rendo and found out that download button was leading to ShareCG... Sigh.

On a bright side, nice to see some of creators reuploading their creations!

  • Past as Future  I saw your post early this morning when one of my dogs woke me up!

I think the entire thing with ShareCG is so sad.  I don't know what could have been done.  As I understand it, ShareCG was just part of a big corporation and they stopped several things they were involved in.

I am wondering if the community could have taken this site over.

    Such a big loss!!!

ShareCG was my biggest go to site for freebies, The interface was confusing for beginners, but the products made up for it. The filtering system took some getting used to, but once I was, it was quite useful for cutting through to the types of products you were looking for.

I had a couple of products there that I made. One was a set dialed of head morphs for Genesis. I think the other was my Eye Bleach product. It looked like a Clorox jug, with labels on it made in DAZ Studio by me also. It was a humorous Daz Prop I made for the October Give Away at The Fantasy Attic. I think I still have both in my content library of DAZ Studio, but I'll have to check.

What bothered me about ShareCG shutting down was the fact that I got no warning. If I had, I would have made sure to pull my products before the shut down.

Now I'm looking for a similar site that I can upload products to for sharing. It has to be free to upload, and free to share products. What ones are the best for that?

Both Renderosity and Renderhub have a free section. I think in both cases, it's free to upload (I never uploaded anything).

You can also use the Freebies section of this forum, either to upload your freebies if they are small enough, or to 'advertise' them.

Just confirming that, yes, both Renderosity and Renderhub can upload freebies for free (I have freebies at both).

Renderosity Freestuff may have the larger audience, but I found Renderhub easier (and allows more than one promo picture). Which reminds me - I really need to find time to upload some more.

I must admit I don't even have a RenderHub account, so my freebies are only in the forum here (difficult to search) and Rendo where a few people have downloaded my stuff. I would also encourage people to use PoserDazFreebies too. It's a cross reference wiki, to which you can add references if you have the time, inclination and an account. I tend to consider adding a page there as the last step of the upload process. It has links to stuff going back ages, V3 to G9.

    Regards,

    Richard

There's also Deviant Art where you can upload freebies, I think for free.
Perhaps even 3D Shards, where you can find freebies, can upload them for free.
The CgTrader site, which mainly features other 3D formats, also has something for DAZ Studio. There are also freebies on the site, but I don't know if it's free to upload them.

I'm uploading all my stuff to Rendo slowly but surely, but it takes time with the 3 per day limit and they aren't exactly quick about approving them ;) I know they're busy tho. I have three in pending right now and as soon as those go thru I'll upload three more and so on and so on. Been away for a bit due to health reasons, but I'll try to get all my stuff back up as soon as possible and maybe a few that I never got around to uploading anywhere.

I'm glad to see your back :) I thought maybe you had decided to give up on DAZ and your interests went elsewhere. I'm sorry that you had health issues to deal with, that seems to be a side effect of getting older (I've had my own issues that have slowed down my use of DS lately as well). It's good to hear that things are better now!!

Thank you for this. It's an absolute delight to see something new of yours there. It seems a lot of other people think so with you being the 2nd highest downloaded freebie contributer at the moment.

    Regards,

    Richard

  • Allen Art and RichardandTracy...Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful things at Rendo.

These are fantastic and will go down as some of the most loved ever!

To all of those who make freebies, I thank you.  The 3D community has ALWAYS been so very generous in my 20 years of this hobby.

Daz3d, thank you for all of your freebies, as well.  Wow...So much to play with!!

I'm still cheesed off about Rendo removing one of my freebies after *months* of it being on their most-downloaded lists.

I was never discreet about what it was (morphs to add groin bulge), and they approved it in the first place - but no, when they took it down after months for being "too sexual", despite me having given them thousands of downloads of traffic they revoked the measly 20 cents of rewards credit they give for freebie uploads, which is so *fantastically* petty on their behalf that I'm still strongly tempted to rip down everything else I have uploaded there.

Petty deserves petty back. Renderhub would welcome your stuff, bulges and all.

That is petty and not good. It's not the sort of thing I have had happen to me so far from them - possibly because I have done more boring stuff. I will say that I have become aware of a number of people who have been quietly removed as photographers and their work become non-searchable even though still in the gallery (try searching for member 'Fand' - it won't work, but their images arrived still there)- not something I like. Regards, Richard.

Well, ultimately this really wasn't very sexual; I originally made it because I had no options between the options on Daz that were "completely vague lump" and stuff from adult sites that was "oversized and overdetailed shaped that would make adult film stars mutter things about how it was a cold day in the locker room".

Now admittedly, I had made the preview thumbnail an animated gif of the bulge windscreen-wipering back and forth (under clothes) to demonstrate the fact the morphs were fine-tunable, but I did ask when it was taken down whether there was anything I could do to resolve the issue and was told that there was not, so I'm not taking the blame for that.

(And, again, I stress that they had cleared it in the first place).
