[Solved] Messy food
I have been looking around for ways to simulate food smeared on skin or clothes, like, for instance, a scoop of ice-cream dropped on a belly in a beach scene, or a bowl of soup turned over someone's head, or a hamburger squirting ketchup on a guy's face. Something like that.
Now, there are dirty dishes, and clothes with stains, and muddy skin, but nothing creating a mess with food props on a person. I know Fluidos could be used to simulate some of these effects but at the current price is unattainable.
People at this forum often come up with brilliant ideas not immediately obvious. Anyone has any suggestions? Thanks!

Different messy food may have different physics and shape when colliding with other stuff. I personally make the similar effects by using dForce and sculpting. For instance, I roughly made an ice-cream dropped on a shirt, they may look like the screenshots down below:
ss1 : original
ss2 : add a dForce modifier + weight node, then simulate
ss3 : sculpt the shape to make some subtle change in shape. Better add some stains then ~~
So, case by case ~~ there may be different solutions and tricks.
THAT is a great idea. I'm not yet that good at using weight maps. I would very much prefer an easier solution, but if nothing comes out this is definitely a path to try. Thanks!
Yeah, to me, an easier solution is to directly sculpt the shape in Blender with more powerful brushes / tools. I personally don't think there's any other much easier solutions.
Just released on another site: Lickalicious For Genesis 9, if anyone else is looking for the same thing. Don't have it yet but looks exactly what I need.
For the squirting ketchup, look at water squirt or splash props -- https://www.daz3d.com/sy-squirts-splats-and-splashes-iray-44355 might work for you. All you would have to do is add a shader. (https://www.daz3d.com/mec4d-pbs-shaders-vol-2-for-iray has one, there might be others)

For soup, you could put an upside-down splash props over someone's head, and top it with the bowl. Shade with appropriate color for desired soup.
Hope it helps...
SilverGirl, thank you very, very much for your suggestions. I actually have https://www.daz3d.com/dirty-dishes-food-and-drink-expansion, but never tried it on people. Great tip. Also have https://www.daz3d.com/iray-wetworx, must give it a try. The splash idea is also great. All in all, you solved my problem. Kudos to you!
Very glad to help! Hope your scene(s) turn out just the way you want, with minimal cussing. :)
Hey, I know you said you had stuff handled now, but I ran into this on accident and thought of you (and anyone else who might come looking for this thread someday...)

It says paints, but the dripping-down-the-face effect would go really well with (or after) the soup dump, I'd think...
You are absolutely right, this is perfect for the soup scene (and maybe other projects)! Thanks for keeping the tips coming! I really appreciate it, threads like this usually fade after a week or so.
Actually they get resurrected by the Google machine as folks who are new to DAZ go searching for items. I did and it was these type of listings that helped me find so many gems that I may never have seen. It is why I will add to them, if I have an idea or know something. And also when the original person is gracious enough to thank the contributors for their efforts.
Completely agree. Thanks also to you for this testimony.
My pleasure! I'm still not tech-savvy enough to be able to help with most of the questions people ask, but stuff like this I can do!
(And apparently this was post 2,000 of me mostly having no idea what's going on. =P )
