As people have pointed out since the beginning of forum history, the forum is a more captive audience. I don't ever recall seeing someone saying: "please show more parts of your character's body in the forum".
I am confused who wrote "Today, I wanted to post my latest prototype (an ample-breasted 40-something) in order to gather opinion on perceived cup-size." and why a bikini top would hinder an assement of cup size? i can look a picture of Dolly parton completely dressed and figure out that she isn't a small breasted woman. However, it remains to be seen if you can get a groundswell to make this a more popular option.
@3DSaga
I plan to become a PA, and test the waters with four characters. Those being the two in my gallery, the fourty-something in this thread, and another fourty-something that is to follow. None are finished yet, they're all prototypes until I have have the fourth character roughed out, at which point I'll.take all four characters into Blender to sculpt their final forms. The only thing that can realistically be considered finalised on the current fourty-something, is her proportions.
@nemesis10
Daz lose customers to competing marketplaces, because those marketplaces come hand-in-hand with a forum that have a more sensible ToS attached to them.
Regards the confusion, I already pointed out why I wanted to post the character nude, and why I chose to post this thread. I was wanting to post her nude in order to gather educated opinions from actual women as to the cup size they perceive her to be, so that I could use the correct one it in the product description.
These may be markets that for a lot of reasons they may not want to pursue so it is fine for them to avoid markets that they find distasteful.
Yep, that is the point that confuses me... in the real world, if a woman went to a doctor for a breast augmentation, she would only remove blouse and underwear and not strip naked. If she was being fitted for a bra, she would probably not strip at all. If you are inquiring about proportions, a body suit or leotard would show those things in an appropriate and tasteful way or you could do a clay render which would avoid distractions. May I point out Zeddicus who sells a great deal of body shape morphs succesfully without the peep show.
Thanks for the warning.
Here's a shocking idea for you: if want feedback on the looks of your totally naked proposed characters & you know there are "marketplaces...with forum[s] that have a more sensible TOS" why don't you just post your images in those forums? Seriously you'd get your feedback faster, since you wouldn't have to wait for Daz to change policies they don't want to change for the convenience of one person.
"The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few...or the one." Mr. Spock
And, you my friend, are the one.
If you want to know what cup size your character actually is, use a tool like measure metrics to measure the full bust and under bust and use a bra size calculator.
That will be much more accurate than asking people to guesstimate it based on a few renders.
@nemesis10
I've explained numerous times now, that the whole point of the thread is to intentionally highlight just how restrictive the ToS is.
I'm well aware of what I can and cannot do, but the part that you're not understanding is that I'm personally not prepared to do that. I'd much rather not post an image at all, than have to appease those with an aversion to nature's finest, the human being.
So again, let's remember that the year at time of debate, is 2025, not 1925.
@miladyderyni_173d399f47
But surely Mr. Spock would find the whole issue of Daz not allowing nudity, to be "Highly Illogical", captain?
Anyway, I feel I've made my point, and for the sake of preventing further desertions, I really hope they fix it.
I've another character to rough-out, so I'm pulling out of the thread, but perhaps we should go even further back in time than 1925, and enforce chasitity belts, too?
@Leana
Thanks, and I'll look into that. I've heard of it before (quite a few times now), but I've never actually seen it, or used it.
Measure metrics is here: https://www.daz3d.com/measure-metrics-for-daz-studio
There are most likely other tools which can help with measuring.
Just post the nude pics on deviantArt for crying out loud. DAZ made a smart move not allowing nudity in their gallery. CivitAI is what happens when people are allowed to post anything they want, and we absolutely do not need an avalance of click-and-render nude G9 females with BreastHeavy and BreastImplant morphs cranked up to 1.000 with third-party genitals flooding the gallery here. I get that every day on dA and Civit, and I don't even go looking for it. I even make images with nudity, but I know and gladly accept that this isn't the place to post them. Let's have one other place besides Artstation that everyone can safely browse.
I think we see DAZ3D mesh as 2 very different things
I see polygons, lines and vertices, 3D geometry
you see ...people
separate post in case it disappears
the irony being the objectification of those people
You're doing a bang up job of making a great impression on the people at Daz as a company with this thread, I'm sure.
They're gonna love working with you and giving feedback after seeing this.
I don't know. Does she drink espresso? Tazzina? Or maybe she's French and its a Demitasse. She does look French.
OP, don't get hung up on the forum rules. You've created some nice models and renders - focus on getting them into the store. Your render style compliments your work incredibly well, btw - you could probably sell your camera, lighting and render setup too.
Random thought - does the Daz store have promo image style guidelines? It may be worth looking into, just in case.
For crying out loud ... no!
Yes, but that is because I am stark raving mad!
It would be very touching indeed, if Daz were to realise that I have their (and their PAs) best interest at heart, and update the ToS appropriately.
Unfortunately (and admittedly) I'm a complete amateur when it comes to preparing a product for Daz.
But we all have to start somewhere, and to be honest, I don't realistically see me being able to sustain being a PA anyway, since I very much doubt the return would be sufficient for the time spent. Nevertheless, becoming a PA is something I've considered on-and-off many times over the years, so I've decided to throw caution to the wind and see how it goes by testing the waters with just four characters.
Thanks for the kind words.
This thread throws up a few interesting thoughts on how we percieve our characters, which I have started a new thread for, since I don't think this thread is the right place for it. ( I've seen other threads like this before, several times, and they don't change anything. As they say "He who pays the piper calls the tune").
It's redundant, because we all know that it's restrictive, but we all know that it's deliberate.
This is a very valid point, and I'm going to agree that is it is actually *nice* to have some communities that don't immediately sink to the depths of having naked ladies everywhere.
For products, nudity in promos is a reasonable concession, as it's serving the function of letting people know exactly what they're buying - there are certainly a few characters who've come with skin features that really weren't obvious from the old promo rules. (https://www.daz3d.com/babina-8 is one example where you could certainly miss that her otherwise lovely skin has very distinct tan lines).
For the community? There's always other places you can post if you want to share nudity.
I'll admit I'm sometimes a bit peeved about exactly what they decide to pull from the gallery, but as a general thing, I like the community not being all bare boobs and bums.
@MattCastle
But unless a member specifically clicks on a censored image, there's no chance they would see a "naked lady" at all, nevermind "naked ladies everywhere", so what you're suggesting would happen, really makes no sense to me at all.
All points of view have been thoroughly aired and some of the restatements are getting a bit pesonal, so this thread has been locked.
