Point light issue

Hi team, I've just started using a point lights to illuminate an interior. So, I placed my first point light just below the scenes ceiling light, set to rectangle, increased the rectangle area and luminosity. Now I thought that point lights emitted light through 360 deg. but when I rendered, only half the room was light up, it was like a slice had gone right through the middle of the room. Playing around a bit, I found I had to actually turn the point light through 90 deg. to get it to illuminate the whole room. Can someone explain why this is please?

Many thanks

It was the change from Point to Rectangle in the LIght Geometry.

This changes the light from being a little ball with 360 degree illumination to a flat plane with a single direction of illumination.

The plane is oriented -90 degrees on the x rotation, in relation the the 'floor'.
