Playing around with Poser renders

I'm hoping someone out there can help me....

I want to use Poser to create a couple of images that can easily be used for cross stitch patterns. It should be simple enough, but I keep running into issues with outputs, so I'm hoping someone can help!

Ideally, I'd like to constrain the output to a total of around 16-32 colours, and really I'd like a more cartoony output than standard, but after a lot of playing around wiht the settings I can't figure out the best way to do it. Is it possible in Poser Pro 2014 to limit my output palette in that way, or do I have to render-export-post process?

Anyone able to help?

Adjusting the render in post might be easiest; I used to do it all the time when cleaning up not-so-great-quality greyscale scans. Do you have PhotoShop? I think I remember seeing a section in the manual detailing how to do this sort of thing.

I've not got Photoshop - but I know Bibble will let me drop colours, and pretty sure I've got GIMP around here that would do the same - I was just hoping there was something in Poser to do it because it would be cleaner than export/recolour...
