    Thanks again.

Using the Slope distribution modifier with Min value set to 0 and Max value set to 30 gives the result I want.

Using the Slope distribution modifier with Min value set to 150 and Max value set to 180 gives the opposite.

Can I use UltraScatter 2 without UltraScatter 1?

  • ArtiniArtini Posts: 10,284

There is nothing in the requirements about it.

Besides that, UltraScatter2 works as a plugin, which makes it very fast.

All prevoius versions of UltraScatter were just a scripts.

    A little test.

Can you get instances to "point at"?

I looked through the options but couldn't find any such.

Point At would be really great to have.

Yeah, I'll probably sneak that into an update at some time.

UltraScatter2 is a completely new and independent product from UltraScatter. So, no you do not need the original for UltraScatter2 to work.

    Thanks for considering such update.

How to avoid clustering of the objects?

You can set a min distance between instances. It defaults to 25 CM, I think. I'm traveling without a computer, so I can't check.
  • ArtiniArtini Posts: 10,284

Thanks, but I have tried that already and could not find the proper value.

With higher values for minimum distance the instances are gone and nothing shows up.

So what else one can do to stop instances to overlay each other?

  • felisfelis Posts: 5,720

    For me the distance works.

Attched are 3 images, with distance 50 cm, 100 cm and 200 cm. It is a default cube of 1 meter.

I planned to instance the robot, but daz got stuck trying to render, at "retrieving lights", so I skipped that and added a cube instead.

If it doesn't work for you, you must provide more info.

I have added a small prop to the group with Cyber D Model 1

and scattered such group. The results are better.

Another trial. I have added a cube and parented Cyber D Model 1 to it.

I have scattered the cube and got this:

After hiding the cube and the path I got this:

Probably I will use UltraScatter2 such way.

Calculating position of the instances with the cubes is easier, than more complicated shapes.

The default units are Centimeters. You can change that to Meters. You can also change 3D space to either World or Local. Those options might help with your large terrain. Min and Max Elevation both default to 0. After you change min to a higher number, Max stays 0, so don't forget to change it, too.

Thanks for the help. I was away for a while. But I still can't get elevation to work using your suggestions. All of the trees disappear when I check elevation and altering the numbers don't have any effect.

If your terrain is extremely high, maybe the max number of meters is just not enough to reach your extreme terrain. If you experiment with a more "normal" terrain, can you get it to work there, to verify that you are doing it corrrectly?

Makes sense. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Sorry to bump this with bad news, but Ultra Scatter 2 seems to crash DS when loading Victoria 4.2. The figure appears to load OK, then the application crashes after a few moments. I tried a few other Poser-format items, props and figures, without issue - Victoria 4 is going through Power Loader, I don't know if that might be an issue (perhaps relating to the ability to load new morphs in place). Edit: disabling Power Loader and the V4.2 .dsb loader script didn't help.

Are you saying that just having UltraScatter2 plugin installed causes the crash when loading Victoria 4.2? Would disabling the plugin while using Victoria 4.2 be a workaround?

To disable/reenable a plug-in you have to restart DS after making the change in Help>About Installed plug-ins. I didn't test to see if V4.2 would load from a saved scene with the plug-in enabled - let me try.

Yes, Victoria 4.2 in a saved scene doesn't seem to be an issue, it is just loading the Poser fromat version (at a quick test). I don't have M4 or the SubDragon installed to see if it affects any ExP figure, but I would not be surprised (on the other hand, it could be dForms - in which case Victoria would be the only one).

On my MacMini M4 I have installed both the Millennium SubDragon, Millennium Dragon, and Millennium Dragon 2.0, but when I click on the SubDragon a window pops up 'The "SubDragon" support folder could not be found.' And then a window with PowerLoader : Import is there. The window is blank. Millennium Dragon crashes DAZ when you try to load. Millennium Dragon 2 is stable and loads. I do have UltraScatter2 Plugin. I do not have Victoria 4.2, Michael 4 or the The Kids 4 installed. Did not want to deal with the files.
