Beeeeepp! We interrupt this coverage of Daz's latest inexplicable ("most inexplicable to date"?) sale! To bring you this Human Interest update...

As promised, I I showed the main https://www.daz3d.com/fg-everyday-librarian-outfit promo to Actual Librarians from the library where my husband & I volunteer.

Reactions: Assorted WTF expressions. "Impractical!" "What planet/reality are [modelers] living on?" "That's really...inappropriate... for working with children." The last comment may or may not have been followed by a silent "Or anybody else." All of which are in line with my thought - "Do people not know how much time we spend atop step stools? Or sitting on the floor?"

And my exchange with the one male librarian: Him: "Don't they have one for the men?" Me: "Uh, no and I don't want to ask what they would wear." Him: "A vest. It would have to be a vest."

This is beautiful. Thank you so much.

(Pretty sure the planet in question is "XXX")

(like the last time a "new release" cost around 1.00 was 18 years ago and that was old PC pricing)..

I had that thought too and initially thought it was some holdover verbiage... but I think it means $1 after tokens and/or other assorted discounts. I could see D+ new releases dropping below that if properly stacked.

I think somone messed up the times. It stopped working 45 min ago. I even got a notfication at cart page it was going to expire.

That would make sense, although as the store page is still active, they should maybe... fix that?

    Should be fixed

It is not fixed. I refreshed the page, cleared the cart and re-added everything, no discounts are being applied.

This my cart jumped up in price. The "shop" page says phase three. That page links to phase four's page. And some of things I had discounts on no longer work.

If you are seeing the wrong phase try opening in an anonymous/priivate wiondow, or do a hard refresh. Phase 4 is no longer active, pase 3 is much the same but the discounted featured Artist itemns are from the Recent rather than the Current categories.

I swear there must be a "hold my beer" level of contest over at Daz for who can make the most convoluted, poorly coded, entirely frustrating sale.

    100%

Daz I would love to give you my money, why are you making it hard to do so.

Im sure there are people out there who will pay full price for an item, but I'd wager the majority of hobbyists, who probably only need that item to complete that perfect render, will only buy it on sale. However those hobbyists will also have wishlists chock full of "that one item"'s that any self respecting Genie would run a mile.

    Make Sales Easy Again.

Everything is 25% more expensive today now that the Julian banner has dropped off (we were all stacking an outlet item for 20% off cart prices, right?) Running the same sale as the newest two days in a row at different prices is just silly. Yes, that will be the perception - yesterdays sale is today's sale but worse. It's a different perception from "yesterdays sale isn't as good as it was, but that's because the store is going through its cycle".

Even if the sale was working today (spoiler alert - it's not), I don't understand what the intent is with it. To annoy your customers?

A friend of mine has a theory he calls the "conservation of suck." By this theory, there is a designated amount of suck that must be distributed. Mostly he applies it to movies... where between the plot, special effects, acting, etc.... if there's too much good in one spot, some other spot is bound to suck.

The outlet store is pretty awesome. Ergo, the suck had to go somewhere, so...

Can't remember the last time a Wishlist item only applied to legacy items... This added to my confusion about the current sale

  • jmucchiellojmucchiello Posts: 621

I think posting to the forum when there's a problem is the mistake. Daz doesn't really notice when the sales and web teams take care of stuff without tickets. I missed this sale and that's fine: "there's always another sale". So, if I think I need help understanding a sale, I will regret not getting something I wanted, send in a suport ticket, and move on. For all the hard work done by the forum moderators, I don't think that work benefits the consumers as much as filing tickets would. Somewhere, some decision maker doesn't get it. And doing the same thing over and over (complaining here) isn't working.

I had to jump to a third browser I almost never use and in private mode to finally get to see the phase 2 page. The items that were discounted more yesterday, were the items I would actually still want stuff from (mostly current and recent rawart and SY). Now phase 2's focus is on legacy buy as you said, no outlet 20% off stack so the discounts are significantly more meh. At least the outlet has good items for a consistent good deal. I love the outlet. Lot of items I have been interested in overtime at a easy to understand consistently good to great price.

Good theory, but your conclusion seems to presuppose that the decision maker WOULD change something IF they DID get it. However, I certainly agree after years of observation as a volunteer Daz sales consumer beta tester that zero cumulative progress has occurred as a result of reporting and whining.

I really wish Daz would adopt a K.I.S.S. mentality instead of gimmicky style sales.  Just have a theme, put them on sale and not always force us to participate in buy-ins.

    I don't think they can.

Over the three years I've been here, Daz's main marketing point was gimmicky sales that if one paid attention, stacked and offered deep discounts. Now, with the price hike and stacking discounts almost non-existent, they only have the "gimmicky" part left to maintain the illusion of good (i.e. better than the competition) offers. On the Other Site, without any stacking or membership, 50% discount on an item is equivalent in price to a 70% discount here, so if they just set up a simple sale, people likely will stop shopping here.

They used to have no-nonsense flash sales where the products were attractively priced and people just bought stuff. Whatever happened to that?

well, no love --- the ad says buy an Epic new Release and get 85% off up to 3 recent Featured Artist items...there is NO discount on the recent item. But, the main banner says Phase 2 and the page that opens says Phase 3, so what is going on there?

And now we get Ultra Scatter 2 with all new products. Did Daz shift clocks by 12 hours?

I have never seen an actual librarian in an outfit like that. I have https://www.daz3d.com/i13-librarian-outfit-for-the-genesis-3-female-s and it seems tame by comparison. Yet, it has some very revealing outfit morphs - Probably won't see those in the library. angel

Today's new releases and new sales page updated after 10am Utah time which makes me wonder whether Daz has finally learned from all the bugs and errors to make the store changeover at the time when people are actually at work...

As Daz3d has international customers, that is complicated since someone in New Zealand, someone in England, someone in san Francisco, and someone in New York are working at different hours.

I think she means when Daz employees work, so they are there to fix all their errors, instead of leaving them unattended for many hours during their night.

That is how I read the message as well and would make sense. Don't change or break something when the right people won't be available to address issues.

OK, new releases, but no phase 1 page from yesterdays promo (does even on different browsers still say phase 2).

  • caravellecaravelle Posts: 2,653

When I read the confusing text yesterday and saw that nothing was working again, I didn't waste another second on this sale. I grabbed some more nice things from the outlet and left the shop satisfied.

  • AstrafelAstrafel Posts: 222

The banner switched to Phase 1 for me, but the page is still showing Phase 2. Of note, the new Ultrascatter sale page has the same "Current", "Recent", and "Legacy" categories for the artist stores plus an extra "Vintage" category at 50%, 60%, 65%, and 70% off respectively.

I was contemplating getting RSSY's 8 to 9 clothing converter before I missed the Phase 4 cuttoff. The Outlet has interested me in starting to collect some G8 male clothing for my G9 fellow that I've been struggling to find the right things for. It shows in my wishlist now as 50% off which may indicate that Phase 1 will be similar to the Ultrascatter sale whenever the page updates.

Still can't see that. Have hit ctrl-F5. Have stopped/started browser. Have cleared cookies. Went into developer mode and did a hard reload. clear cache and hard reload. Still getting phase 2. Opened a different browser. Still phase 2.

The current sale reminds me of those gimmick gift givings we sometimes did in my youth, where the gift would be in a huuuuuge parcel, and inside that a smaller one, and a smaller, and so on, until the gift itself was revealed, usually to be something fairly small. Oh, and often you'd have to open all those parcels with a lot of handicaps, like wearing gloves and a ski mask and using cutlery and so on. Yeah, the more I think about it, this is actually exactly like many of the sales here ... laugh
