"Alchemist Hair & Beard for Genesis 3 and 8 Males" size question

I have "Alchemist Hair & Beard for Genesis 3 and 8 Males" [ https://www.daz3d.com/alchemist-hair-beard-for-genesis-3-and-8-males ]. It seems that when I include it in a scene, it increases the scene by over 60M. A scene under 1M in size explodes to over 60M in size. Is there normal? Is there a way to reduce the space of the saved scene?

If not, is it possible to get a refund five years later?

Which version of the hair are you using and on which figure?
Scene size increasing a lot would be normal if you use the G3 version on G8 for example, as it would save the autofitted version of the hair in the scene.

I'm using G3M hair on a G3M character. To be certain, I use the smart content feature. With the hair in the scene I'm at 63M. Without the hair, I'm under 1M.

It sounds as it is saving the geometry instead of a reference as it should. You can try to look in the scene file.

You have not modified the hair with mesh grabber or something similar?

When you apply the hair, does it then just apply it without any pop-up box?

    Nope. Left it as is?

    Yep. No pop ups.

A scene file is human readable, but will need to be uncompressed if you have saved it with the compressed option ticket.

And in the scene file you can search for the hair. It should just be a reference to the hair, but I assume it will have all the geometry.
