Looking forward to using the hair in renders because it is a good looking hair. Thank you propschick.
Thank you! Who knew it was so important to see well! lol - I honestly thought it was my eyes going bad
Thanks
The shininess of the colors is an issue, but that is easily overcome by applying a chevybabe25 shader. The big problem that needs fixing is the Top surface that doesn't cover the head, and the scalp object that shows through the sparse hair.
Has this product been updated? I don't see anything about a fix in the release notes.
No, the PA never fixed it. It is as bad as ever. I stop buying from PAs that don't fix their products. There are plenty of reliable alternatives.
If you haven't bought it yet, don't do it! If you just bought it, return it before 30 days after purchase. I don't think there is any hope of a fix after this long time.
You suggested that it would take you a week. So, it ihas been 5 months! Why haven't we received the promised update to Emberlynn Hair?
Just checking to see if this has been fixed yet or its just me dont mind me
No, it has never been fixed, and the PA @propschick_1f4c5593b4 hasn't posted here for 6 months.
They may not have posted but they've released more products since we've been waiting for a fix.
I know. Knowing that there is no support from them, I am hesitant to buy any more products from their store.
Hey, there was an update for Emberlynn Hair in DIM today. I am disappointed to say that the update contains several errors. It is really hard to believe that anyone tested this before release. I submitted another help request.
Request #473845:
dForce Emberlynn Hair for Genesis 9 (SKU 90297) was updated in DIM today. It has errors.
1) When loaded, a missing file error is displayed. (See attached screenshot).
2) The file list in the readme does not match the files installed by DIM (See attached screenshot).
3) The hair does not respond properly to Proportion dials. (See attached screenshot). The hair either floats above the head or sinks into the head when a proportion is dialed in. For example, try proportion smaller, proportion height, or a character proportion dial like Pixie 9 Proportion.
It is nice to finally see an attempt to fix this hair that has been faulty for years, but it is disappointing to see how poorly the update performs and how poorly it was tested before distribution. Please fix it so it performs correctly.
It was working just fine for me before the update. Now the hair is permanantly shifted away from her head. Trying to adjust the fit to: field causes Daz to think it is an unsupported asset for G9.
Installed the update recently, but didn't try it until now. I don't see any poke through or bald spots, but there is another problem. The hair does not follow the head movements, apparently doubling the rotation (don't know if it was like that before). Twist the head a bit, the hair goes twice as much. Same for bend and side-to-side. If I counter with an opposing rotation of the head node on Emberlynn Hair and Hair Thin, it looks okay. (The Scalp follows properly for all rotations)
Used: Victoria 9, Emberlynn hair, default load, no simulation.
G9 Head twist 20 deg, Hair unchanged.
G9 Head twist 20 deg, Hair-Head and Hire Fine-Head twist -20 deg.
G9 Head side-to-side 20 deg, Hair unchanged.
G9 head side-to-side 20 deg, Hair-Head and Hire Fine-Head side-to-side -20 deg.
G9 Head bend 20 deg, Hair unchanged.
G9 Head bend 20 deg, Hair-Head and Hire Fine-Head bend -20 deg.
@Barbult, I see a "data\Propschick\Emberlynn Hair\Emberlynn Hair ScalpScalp2_15009.dsf", not the one you are missing. DSON cache? The file list appears to have been updated, it matches the package.
Don't know why it made a separate post...
@NorthOf45 Yes, I resolved the missing file problem and Daz did update the file list, but there hasn't been a fix to the basic fit problems with the hair. Have you submitted a ticket about the problem you discovered? I didn't get as far as actually trying to pose a model, after the basic fit failed to follow any proportion morph.
Okay, I'll put in a ticket.
By chance, I happened to still have the previous revision of the product, and it follows the head movement, no problem, so something else has definitely changed. I do not, however, have the time to peruse 41 MB of hair data (3x the original, uncompressed) to find the culprit.
Nor should you have to. This "update" is a black eye to to PA and whoever was supposed to test it at Daz.
New update 05-14. Looks like the head movement problem has been corrected, as well as most of the "proportion" morphs under Actor. Any that change the size of the head are still off, noticeable on the bangs and the back of the head, as if the hair was not being scaled properly, but it does not float in the air above the head...
I tried the update today. I tried Proportion Head Size, Proportion Smaller, and Proportion Height. They were all failures in my eyes. It looks like the whole set of strand hair is getting scaled, but inappropriately. The scalp shows through the side of the head ( I imagine the strands are embedded inside the head, exposing the scalp). The hair, especially the bangs, get either too short or too long, depending on which direction you are dialing the morph, negative or positive. The limits on these morphs go from -200% to 200%, but even at 100% they are unusable with this hair. I can no longer count the number of hours I have wasted testing and reporting the failures of this product.
I responded to my help request with these test results and said it was NOT fixed.
