I'll post here then
You could use DIM to download and then manually install - if you are limited on space then delete or move the zips and leave the .dsx files that are alongside them. You should then get update notices.
to be honest I'm not low n space but I don't understand how to save the zips from DIM ,or where to find them if it saves them and that makes me crazy ,(okay crazier) especially with the items that you can only get through DIM......, cause I took me forever to find where it put the items it opened .....there was alot of cussing involved......
Thank you very much Totte
The zips go in the folder set in Archive Directory in the Installation tab of Advanced Settings, click the gear icon at top-right of the main window.
Okay once again into the fray I go .....if I don't survive tell my grand kids I love them .........
Is it soup yet?
I had to fix the "DS issue" with viewport background goes bananas "sometimes" when loading a .daz file. It's in "Testing Updates" currently, hopefully it gets done soon.
(big sigh) Okay .........thank you ......
And there the update is in DIM!
It is copying the original thumbnail images again. Thanks for the update.
And also restores the viewport background that is trashed randomly when loading a .daz file....
Hurray ,wait does that mean it'll be in the manual download too?
Indeed - just grab it.
Thank you very much !!! I grabbed it !!
As I'm trying to get rid of some annoying entries in the Data directory - mostly old Poser products that got transformed for DAZ, but weren't stored in a artist/product directory tree - I need to know how Your program saves the .dsf files for the newly made sets/props/etc. Is it possible to decide how the entry in the data directory is supposed to be arranged?
EDIT: I'm mixed about this program, after I bought it. You can the newly transformed props/sets in a directory of your choice, but the related dsf files for the Data directory end up in a directory like "data/(your name)/LSC_(abbreviated set Product/Original Author name*)" which means it is hard to have the dsf files for different products of an author/PA sorted properly.
* that field seems to be restricted to 16 characters (or so) which it cut longer author/PA names and keeps you from using a author/product name combination for the set/prop
It's also less than optional that a set made up out of several variations of the same "prop" produces a dsf file for each variation, even when it's only texture or position data that's different. Transforming the Playground 2 premade sets resulted in 31(!) dsf files being made when all three sets are made by variations (in position!) of the same 5 props.
So, in the end it's a useful product and I'm glad to have bought it, but it's coming with quite a few restrictions that ask for quite a bit time to be invested by the customer to make the best out of it.
Okay so I've been busy converting ,but do have a question . Once I've converted Legacy items Is it okay to just get rid of the Cr2's , and pp2's ,or do I need to keep them ?
You dont need them for DS, so ypu can get rid of them as you can always get them back reinstalling the product
Thank you Totte
I had been using both Legacy Set Converter and Advanced Material Converter prior to the release of DS 4.24.0.3 on my MacMini Pro M4 and when I started a session first thing after a reboot, I expected about 4 crashes. This morning, after the install of DS 4.24.0.3 the other day, I tried the Legacy Set Converter and after 10 crashes from selecting it from the Scripts drop down, I tried it from the Content Library, and it also crashed then. Tried again, from Scripts drop down and it worked finally on 12th time. I did save a bit of the first part of the crash log, not sure that is useful or not. But if you are on a MacOS computer, be patient, and keep on trying.

Thank you Totte.
OK, ran on Faveral Medieval Tavern with no problems on Studio 4.24.0.3, 14 sets.
What are you converting? Some old .daz files just happily crash Studio. Can you provide the studio log after a crash?
Path: ~/Library/Application Support/DAZ 3D/Studio/log.txt
It does not crash for me in Windows 10 either. i converted an old SWAM V4 hair.
I was getting ready to convert Stonemason's Generic Sci Fi Corridor, sku 2912. I am working from the lowest skus up that I installed on my newest computers. After I was able to get a stable script open, the set converted without an issue. Well, except for the layered file structure that I have to get straight in my head.
I am attaching the full log from today's work, including what I have done since I have been able to get the scripts stable. I have had some issues that I think are more from my ignorance of the process, really old files, and 'taking a guess' I was right on materials.
Mary
The logs didnt show any crashes but loads of missing textures and things.
Yeah, I finally realized I had missed a key point in your manual. Spent the morning deleting every file I had converted from Poser files and changing the target folder to 'My Library'. It is where I normally go to look for converted anything. I had created 3 levels of folders repeating one another. After carefully following your manual this time, things are going a lot better.
I just hit a issue with what to do with a Stonemason set, Urban Future that only has .pz2 or .ds materials. I tried AMC on both but I get a blank screen. If .daz will not be usable in DS6, I don't think .ds files will either. Do you have any idea of another way to convert those materials?
Mary
You need to convert to .duf using LSC, then convert materials using the .ds mats as base in AMC.
Done that, and if you have problems with certain materials, you can define your own replacement material settings. Also, if the materials are .ds but the item is for Poser, tell AMC that the materials are for DS, not Poser (as there are some different handlings with Poser Materials, speacially for Glossiness and Specular.
I had used LSC to convert the item to .duf, and when I tried to use AMC on the .ds file the center screne in AMC was blank. I just shut down DS as I have to leave but I will try again when I get home. Thank you for answering. This has been the first hiccup I have had since clearing up my files' mess. I also did download the freebie zip from Rendo, but it seems to be for Windows only. Not sure if I can convert on my Win 11 and share with the MacMini files that have .rsr files.
