Imported object is invisible and giant?
in The Commons
When I import my object into DAZ 3D, it comes in invisible. I can only see it if I hover over it. Also, the imported object is giant. Why are these things happening, and what can I do to fix them?

It would help to know format you are importing in, which program you are importing from, what import settings you used, and how you scaled it in the first place.
Not all programs agree on what a measurement of "one unit" actually equates to. Some programs use units of metres, some use centimetres, some use various Imperial units.
Click the object then go into the surfaces tab and check the opacity setting. many times when you import an OBJ the opacity gets turned all the way down making it invisible.
Very true, well said FSMCDesigns.
Also, when you import, there's usually a dialog that has options. As said earlier, you have to find which scale matches the Daz system.
Sometimes it takes a few tries.
Another thing that *might* be an issue is stuff from other sites being available in different formats like FBX and OBJ and such.
Sometimes importing one of the other formats works better.
Yes, what the others have said; Daz uses centimeters, so the fact that your object is huge instead of tiny strongly implies that the output scale is set incorrectly in the exporting program.
The visibility might be because the normals are flipped. Discarding normals on import is a quick way to fix that, unless you have something special set up that requires the normals.
I was suffering the same issue. But I discover the problem. I was able to see the object ghost in Front view, but when I switch to Perspective or camera view the object was invisible. I switch to right view and made a zoom out... super out... and I discover the object miles away of the scene. My question now is How to changes the axis edges to be centered where the object is?
Quick and dirty fix I often use: create group, with just that one object included. Often that works well enough for my purposes.
