    Thank you, 3Diva.

There's a gut punch drama here, right? Or that's what I remember aiming for. laugh

I've started watching 'Batman the Caped Crusader' and the toon-noirish aesthetic in the show reminded me of this image. There's a lot to that show to pick up, especially the way they illustrated scene background. I'm hoping to find out how to recreate that in my workflow.

    Cheers!

The Blender render looks great! I haven't tried rendering in Blender. Transferring a scene into Blender and setting up the materials sounds like it would be a bit time consuming and a pain in the tushy. lol

Thanks, 3Diva. Nobody can say that you aren't generous with your feedback.

I deliberately stepped away from Daz, Blender and image-making for a year to take care of other priorities. Now that I've taken it all up again, I discovered how much I've forgotten. Re-learning all of this has been a humbling experience, but sort of a fun rediscovery too. It's also allowed me to bring a new perspective on what I've done in the past and how I've accomplished it -- the old is new once more. And, yes, to your point, getting things done in Blender takes a whole lot more effort! laugh Pretentious as it may sound,  I guess that's part of the so-called artistic journey. Hah.

    Cheers!

Those Blender NPR renders look great!!laugh

I recently Started using the free VROID  “Vtuber” anime characters in Blender
(via a free addon that imports/converts their toon shaders)

I will likely start a new anime film project this fall

Thanks for dropping by!  I appreciate the feedback. laugh

I haven't spent any time in animation. It's pretty impressive what artists such as yourself can produce with Daz, Blender and all such tools. But for me I've set my heart on comics as a medium for storytelling.

If you haven't done so yet, perhaps you should consider posting your YouTube videos about VROID at the Blender Discussion group where there's a strong interest in animation. There's also the V Tubers and Daz Users thread.

Have you also seriously considered starting your own discussion thread here in the Daz Forum? I use this CSAA's NPR Annex as a sort of a  mood  board where I collect my images. I'm constantly looking over my handiwork here, hoping to self-critique and improve my workflow -- without getting sidetracked by other people's work. It's sort of my own personal corner. The focus helps me think clearly and track my progress.

I strongly recommend creating your own space in the Forum where you can showcase your projects and draw feedback. In fact, that's what I set out clearly in the first post:

You're talented and you've got good stuff! Best wishes on your anime film project. laugh

    Cheers!

A work in progress. Still trying to see how things come together correctly.  Sculpting in Blender takes a fair amount of effort to get things right! laugh

Same as the above but with a first attempt at putting hair cards in place. What a difference it makes!

Making the Tinkerbell Hair look less photo-realistic -- with stylized line art -- is the goal here. Still a work in progress.

Went back to Daz and altered the Genesis 8.1 figure for a slightly more stylized appearance. Once again, the hair is proving too complicated post-render to get a consistent result. Still looking for a combination of  simple materials and repeatable workflow to give her hair an illustrated look. Thank goodness for vector line art!

Edit: Found a style I'm satsified with. The B&W version provides a good confirmation.

Update: With the B&W render below, I tried a different workflow that uses more flat tones and hatching brushes to approximate a manga-esque look. It's a good start, I'd say, towards that sort of aesthetic.

Had a productive afternoon working on this, just to see how the figure held up in a trial render. Hopefully the scene overall has a believable non photorealistic (NPR) look to it. smiley

Some production notes: Lying and Resting Poses for Genesis 8.1; Blitz Girl Uniform for Genesis 8; Leandros Hair and Beard. I ditched the "beard"; the top knot is hidden from the camera at this angle.

Update: Altered the shader of her uniform to lower the highlights from the main light. Removing the glare on upper arm shifted the lighting emphasis towards her face. All together, the update reduced contrast and made the tones easier on the eyes.

Update: Replaced initial B&W render with stylized one

    Cheers!
