Well, it's pretty simple. You buy every day or you lose. Not fond of it.

We also see how long that 40% discount for the Karen and Scott bundles last - Four days maximum before it dwindles to nothing.

OTOH - that last 'punchable' sale - the prices I saw near the end were absurdly low; this looks to be a bit more fair for the PAs.

Hmm, "only" 40% off? You get 60% off in a flash sale. I was sort of expecting at least a 50% discount. :(

  • namffuaknamffuak Posts: 4,409

Barring other discounts for some other reason, it looks like the maximum is 64% if you have all four of the add-on points.

I'd have to buy something every single day. While it sounds awesome, I just don't have the budget for that. :(

I think with items being Rev'vd for three days, there might be some days where you like two things, and hold off until the next day to buy it. I'm sure they will put some lower priced items in there to help those of us budgeting too. But yeah, September is a long month!

Large discounts are great for the PAs. They encourage a lot of people who wouldn't have bought the item otherwise, but can't resist a bargain, or are on the fence about buying. I would guess that 90% of my daz purchases fall into this category. I've got so many things that I will probably never use, but couldn't resist buying. So once the PAs make their money on the big spenders, and when their sales slow down, they can reel in the rest with a few massive discounts, and get money they wouldn't otherwise have made.

How much did you end up saving by the end of the punchable sale BTW?

they always do some promotion where you have to buy everyday in order to save the most the next day. it's always a huge gamble. Buy stuff today, tommorow nothing you want is in the store.

For me most of the time there is nothing worth buying except at the very end :) Usually, but not always, there is some catchup sale. Totally don't get mad if you miss out on stuff by waiting till the end. But don't spend money on things you don't want just so you can get a discount on items you may not want.

Big difference now is you need to buy for 4 days straight to get the maximum. (granted this was many years ago)In the past there were times it was just buy something today, save 40% tommorow.

But at least it's 40% day one. that's pretty neato.

Ah well... I'll still buy some stuff, I just won't be tempted into buying something I don't really need. :)))

  • Has anyone made a purchase on this to check that 64% number?

    Predictions -

DAZ Marketing will implement a new marketing promotion so insanely complex that no one will ever understand it... including the store software, which will ultimately go insane, change it's name to Skynet ansd seek to destroy huimanity rather than factor out how many bouncie-bouncie points each customer earns in the Shrodinger's Rabbit Hopscotch With Pineapple Sauce Jubillee.

Rev up page text/disclaimers: "REV-UPs - Are earned with New Featured or Still Featured purchases with a maximum of one REV-UP earned per day. One REV-UP per day is lost each day a purchase is not made from the New Featured or Still Featured categories. Each REV-UP gives an additional 10% discount increase up to a maximum of 4 REV-UPs or a 40% discount applied in addition to the base 40% discount. REV-UP discount can be applied to New Featured, Still Featured, Featured Artist Catalogs and Even More Items listed on this promo page. Items purchased with REV-UP discount or items that are earned with a REV-UP discount are not eligible for returns or refunds. Items purchased before this promotion cannot be returned and repurchased as part of this promotion."

Yep.  Got the names wrong, but otherwise pretty much called it.  Get to your fallout shelters now and avoid people with Austrian accents.

I'd have found it hard to buy Scott if they were offering stuff for free.

I have no idea. Its not like the old Blondie comic strip: "Honey, Bloomis had a half-price sale today and I saved $500".

But some of the stores went on 70% off - and the punchable on old products was 50% off - so I'm down to half of 30% or 15%. "But wait! There's more!" as Ron used to say. I was paying with gift cards that got discounted as high as 13% so the effective discount ended up near 87%. And I recall some specials that played hob with some of the prices as well.

All I know is I dropped about $400 during that sale. frown

Are there PAs who do not take part in the PA festival, and whose items will not be on sale during September?

There is at least some PA that did not make a new product but ended up on sale. And if history repeats itself, there may be a "catch up" sale at the end where the whole store has some sort of sale. That is pure speculation, but it's a common practice.

In previous PA sales, the max discount for older stuff is 50%, where as in this one it is 60-64% depending on what you were given when they switched off the rev up stuff. 64% is quite a high discount, and I wonder if they will want to trigger that on the entire site. Still, only they know, and a store wide sale may still be coming.

On the other hand, those with a full 64% discount are spending/have spent a lot of money. by the time the whole store goes on sale, there may not be enough left in the coffers to go too crazy. Not without maxing out a credit card or three. (Which pretty much negates the savings anyway...)

There are lots of things they can do. I wouldn't be surprised if its a 3-4 day staggered event. They have done those as well. Day 1, 10 or 20 PA on sale, and they change out the list.

But regarding PA not in the sale, if you have some of their items in your wishlist and notice they suddenly have a discount it's worth checking out their store. That happened to me once and the PA wasn't advertised in the sale at all.

Well, after recently buying two gift cards with 12% off, I need a lot better than 7 to encourage me to buy another; still have enough credit atm; I've not quite used half of what I bought.

But with sufficient encouragement I could be persuaded. crying

Thinking about the sale though; there are about eight items so far I might have bought if I could have returned, but didn't. And I bought four items so far that I would have - at best - added to wish list, but bought due to the savings; to me it isn't about how much I save, but the price I pay. IMO Daz's default prices are high, so I expect especially good prices to encourage me to buy. This sale has largely done that. Some items, like the HD morphs I still consider too much and have made do with the one I got.

Now it there were more options to dial in the morphs of not just body, but more on lower torso but not breast area, more on legs but not arms - I'd pay more for that.

I have a list of items I want to get during these two months, and check every single one of them each day to see what's on sale. I actually got the last non-DAZ item I wanted just today. This was the one I was starting to get worried about, today being the 23rd of September already. :)

My budget for October is also almost in place... :)

I hope your right *hold thumbs*. I've got a number of items on my wish list, but I can never seem to match them up- so every time my must buys come up, there's nothing else I really want. Hopefully if they have a big blow out/ catch up at the end, we'll be able to clear some of our wishlists.

there are morph packs for that, I guess you want a few more? I feel I'm pretty well covered in that area, however when people make neato specialty characters (monsters and fantasy folks) I wish they had partial body morphs. Especially when they make inversed feet and crazy claw types. I would want to mix and match that stuff.

  • Working on the budget for October.  I didn't really have a budget for September because I had no idea this even existed lol.

  • I did find an interesting thing yesterday that might even  tempt me to buy a G3F bundle yet.....gasp!!!!

in spite of not working in Carrara

once I reduced the texture maps I could load a heap of em in iClone and once poly reduced in Ultimate unwrapped 3D I actually could load about 50 of them!!!!

it seems the new rigging is indeed game friendlier than triax, iClone is game engine based

Yeh, more choice on what morphs to use in HD; athough the muscle morphs I got seems to do some of it. I have an HD character's morphs that can be dialled in on body and head; it serves my needs as a rule, as I seldom dial them in their entirety. It works pretty well regardless of body type - at least as not extremes.
