oh dear, while I haven't been there a while, it is an invaluable resource to newcomers and people who cannot afford content
Dang that sucks. I'm glad I kept backups of things.
I understand their decision, but it is sad to see it go.

Closure of ShareCG store.
February 28th, 2025 by Nitai Fraenkel
Effective March 1st, we will remove the option to sell uploads through ShareCG.
If you are a Seller, please remove your upload before March 7th. The existing salable uploads will no longer be available for Sale and the status will become “Pending”.
Any upload with the status “Pending” will be removed from the App.
The payment for January/25 and February/25 will be done on the original schedule.
If you were a buyer, please make sure that you have the upload on your desktop.
Thank you for your understanding.

So sad. ShareCG is an important resource and will be greatly missed. Does anybody know when we will no longer be able to download from there?
I just saw this on their site. Sad news.
Grabbed a copy of my freebie from there, dunno if I'll post it elsewhere given how old it is, but it's not lost
I've been totally unable to get in there for more than a year... but still, sad the benefit for others is going away.
Thanks for the heads up!
It used to be one of the most active freebie sites for DS/Poser items, but it has been pretty quiet over the last few years. On the DS page there are roughly a couple of items added in a week, and most of those are from 1 or 2 people. That is far less than before, and a lot less than the number of freebies posted to renderosity or renderhub.
...very sad news. I've been a long-time community member there pretty much since I started here and both downloaded and used a lot of well made models.
This is going to leave a big void.
That's a shame. I was going to get around to uploading a bunch of my stuff that's no longer for sale.
Where would be the next best freebie site do we think? I know about Rendo. Any others?
Probably Rendo, yeah. I think that one is the next most popular. I THINK there might be freebies at 3DShards.
Thank you for posting this. I rarely go on there these days, but I'll be sad to see it go.
Rendo, RenderHub, and 3Dshards are the best alternatives.
Renderhub is probably the most active freebie site for DS stuff right now. You can also post multiple promo shots with each item, where as with Renderosity you are limited to a single promo pic.
Weirdly I'm seeing this differently. I see only an announcement to close the STORE, not the FREEBIE's so maybe I'm reading it all wrong but

Try open sharecg in a private window on your browser and you should end on a page with a black background and a cup of coffee with a message about ShareCG: click on the picture and you'll end on the link in the first post.
The looming closure couldn't have come at a bad time. My Seagate external hard drive, which i stored my DAZ 3D library in, died on Thursday evening (it was old, so it shouldn't be surprising). While I do have other external drives right now, there is no certainly as to when they will collapse, so I am in the process of backing up my files on Google Drive and Mega (videos, music, documents, 3D freebies, and other important items) over the course of this weekend, and maybe extending into the coming week.
Back to the topic, I am pretty lucky I have a Facebook contact that informed me this afternoon about the looming closure of ShareCG, so I now have an opportunity to download whatever I can. I plan on uploading the ShareCG items I got at the last opportunity to my personal storage, but I will not be sharing them. I recommend others do the same.
...after clicking on the "coffee cup" image, it took me to the actual Share CG page hat had the message about content that was for sale. I clicked on the "Daz Studio" link on the top banner and the freebie selections appeared. . So yes, the freebie part of site is still active.
I agree with RAMWolff, it looks like it'll still be around but only the sale functiin will be gone, probably much more trouble that it's worth and a money looser, copyrigght, trademark, and HR problem at that small a scale.
No, if you follow the link in the OP of this thread, you'll see a blog post saying:
"our network of websites — including EDACafe.com, GISCafe.com, MCADCafe.com, AECCafe.com, TechJobsCafe.com, and ShareCG.com — it is with deep regret that we announce the upcoming closure of all platforms due to financial challenges"
Then it asks if anyone wants to "acquire the assets" - whatever they mean by that.
I think these sites are mainly focused on 3d model assets only. What about other things, like scripts and tools? Anything comparable to shareCG? Some people just want to upload free stuff without having to join some kind of vendor program.
Oof! That one hurts.
Oh wow, I was only there a few days ago and grabbed a couple of nice free items! I'll be sorry to see it go.
I post my freebies on multiple sites, in case one of them shuts down. I'm checking Sharecg for anything I've missed before the plug is pulled.
This is such a shame and I understand why but once it's gone and if links till exist it's going to be horrible not being about to find all those cool things. I've felt so lucky being able to create a lot of fanart from stuff from SHARECG.
They are scripts sold or shared on all the sites named by Blood-PawWerewolf.
There are scripts at Rendo, I think a majority are obtained using: Free Stuff| Department| Tools
Admittedly, there are not a huge number of scripts there.

Richard
