Sorry to hear that, Bobvan. Hope you will get your download as soon as possible.
I have bought Reality 4 from Daz3D, when it was on the sale.
Very nice, Will. I was also searched for a good filter in Filter Forge for the comic stuff,
but have not found one, that I like. It is so many of them to choose from.
Images with your selected filters looks nice. Thanks for sharing.
Yay finally getting the added warranty pushed through, will be getting GTX980 in the beast!
Art its ok we have an altenative now and plan on using both engines...I just need it to work on a commission since the materials are set in Reality
Not bad, but, the skin is a little too shiny.
CHEERS!
Yes, it was just a quick test, to see how well iray materials are carrying over to Lux
via Reality 4.1. Then I have made another test with 3 characters of Genesis 3 Female
and Modern Museum. After one and half hour, the render was still so grainy, that I decided
to not post it here. It reached over 600 S/p, but the speed was only around 200 kS/s
It looks like, I do not have enough fast computer to use with Lux.
I probably stick to iray for now and will also try to buy a better Nvidia graphic card
with more VRAM (preferably 8GB or more).
Since I have 32 GB of RAM in the computer, my hope with Reality 4.1 was to have
a tool to render large scenes in Lux with decent speed. So far, no luck with this.
I finally got ir going so far meh iray is faster no matter what I can GPU render but there are artifacts cpu seems cpu accelerated does not work well.
Mmm, not sounding good.
I'm tempted to uninstall Luxus and Luxrender and stick with Iray. I haven't used Luxus or Luxrender since I got them and they're just dead weight really. I think Garibaldi may go the same way as I don't think what you create with it plays nice with Iray and I haven't used Garibaldi at all since I got that either. I think AM or Mec4D will come up with something that Iray loves.
CHEERS!
So far im really not impressed specially after what I am getting with iray
Well hell, if you're not impressed then I'm hardly likely to be. Right, Luxus and Luxrender are going in the bin!
CHEERS!
Another test render with Reality 4.1. This time
http://www.daz3d.com/sase-kennedy-for-victoria-6
Rendering time: 30 minutes
CPU only, 666.93 S/p 391.33 kS/s
and one more ...
Rendering time: 1 hour
1.52 kS/p 447.03 kS/s
Here's how far I've come with Iray, I finally worked out how to use HDR's and lights, there IS a need for both (Click to enlarge.):
Now I'm happy!!
CHEERS!
Looks nice, Rogerbee. Any tips about this extra lights, you put to the scene.
I mostly use HDR only, when rendering in iray.
I just binned Garibaldi, Luxus and Luxrender, shouldn't need any of them with Iray.
CHEERS!
That's very sad Rogerbee. Could we now say that a fully integrated render engine will always work far more reliably than a plug-in? Don't answer that question.
You put in a low intensity spotlight, adjust the lumens to 15,000,000 and adjust the position according to the HDR, I set the light to point at the figure, then adjust the environment intensity of the HDR till it suits. Renders take a lot less time than with pure HDR as well.
CHEERS!
I shan't, but, I never used Lux or Garibaldi and now I know I can use Iray the need for them is no longer there. Also, I believe Alessandro is working on a version of LAMH that will work better with Iray.
CHEERS!
Why not use the camera settings in Tone Mapping to get the light intensity rather than turning all the lighting up until it looks harsh?
Never got on with them so I leave them at defaults, it works for me.
CHEERS!
Hello,
I've bought reality 4.1 yesterday (no experience from older versions) and and i'm already liking it!
At my first hours, I was really clueless about what the heck are mesh lights or IBL, and I've also encountered some weird bugs, but as soon as I got help everything went smoothly :)
so here is a quick shot of what I achieved by now ^^
This time I did just that, and you know what, it did work. Sorry for being dismissive. I set the light to defaults but with a disc emitter at 50cm and then let the tone mapping do the work. The render took 25 mins, though I dread to think how much clothes and hair are going to add to that. Catharina, with her twin Titan X's, can render a fully clothed figure with a beard in 12 mins. I know I won't get that speed with the GTX960 I want, but, I certainly should see some speed increases.
Anyhow, here's Boris:
I'm happy with that at least
CHEERS!
Ah! That explains why I felt your images were over bright. It may also be the reason for the white circle in the last image's eyes. If it works for you though then carry on, but if you need a light with that many lumens coming from it then you really need to look at the Tone Mapping settings. I don't think even sunlight is that bright.
No worries,
I know what I'm doing now, just. The circle in the cornea was because I followed someone else's method of dealing with it instead of putting the correct trans map into cut out opacity.
I love it when you don't stop learning
CHEERS!
Whew, finally got it together. Comic updated, now with more comicy comicness.
Warning, demonic nudity.

I think I somehow got my CPU boosted Open CL going im having more success today but its still not iray fast but a big improvement GPU rendering works sometimes as well.
Does 3DL benefit from good video cards?
Nope, it doesn;t use it at all I'm afraid.
...after you pointed that out to me, suddenly everything made a lot more sense (especially since I used to dabble in film based photography). The current scene I'm working on is looking really good.
A good part of working with Iray lighting is basically having to "unlearn" what seemed normal for 3DL.
In celebration of working on a new comic style, I tried to make the most anime image I can, without having a squirrelcat.
Not as such, no, most integrateds will handle it, you need one for the preview window but 3DL is CPU for rendering.
CHEERS!
