    Hamsters for packet transmission works for many sites, but there appears to be a conflict when attempting to use them on websites that have lolcats.  100% packet loss .

    There was a hampster, not a cat, in that hampster ball before the packet got to the lolcat site, I swear.  :-)

    Just reactivating this...Comcast won't fix the problem on their end...and not having their filters running is letting too much junk go through.. so I'm seeing if my client can snag the mail before or out of the junk....

    If you want to avoid double spacing you have to edit the source.
    Click the Source button, remove all but the first <p> and the last </p> and then add a <br /> at the end of the other paragraphs.

    That's good to know... I wonder why it double spaces automatically?
    It seems very wasteful of post area real estate.

    Now I will promptly forget how to do this...

    Or instead of a simple enter, use shift+enter. That puts in a <br> instead of a <p>. I find this easier than editing the source.

    Good question.   Microsoft Word does this too, and the only way around it I could find was to make a specially-prepared "blank" document to start from (or go through a whole series of steps to disable it every single time you write a document, which is silly.)  I have no idea what they're thinking.  It's probably some standard business grammar formatting thing we're all supposed to use to put a space after every paragraph or something, who knows.  But most of the time I'm just typing up a list or collection of one-line items, so it's extra-annoying if not disabled.

    This has nothing to do with anything, but since I was thinking about it, I figured I'd post it here...

    Why I don't use emoticons or smilies...

    Well, they are too cute for me... I'm not a cute person. But also, I'm not sure I always get what they mean or feel people will get what I mean by them... Here are a few examples of what I mean, and how I feel some emoticons can also be interpreted:

    smiley=  Happy, non-threatening smile or satisfied with what I did.

    sad=  Sad, pooped in pants or meds not working yet.

    wink= Winking perversely, got poked in eye (but happy about it) or pirate patch fell off while smiling too hard.

    laugh= Very happy, just got grabbed in naughty manner or meds finally kicked in.

    frown= Disappointed, indifferent or just had a stroke and right side is paralyzed.

    cheeky= "Can I lick you?"or "I like licking stuff".

    blush= "I'm allergic to shellfish, please call paramedics".

    surprise= Got grabbed too hard in naughty manner and wasn't expecting it.

    indecision= Stroke effects are getting worse.

    angry= "I'll kill you all and burn your mangled remains with my new flamethrower"... Or "I'm really constipated".

    angel= I just died and heaven is very nice.

    cool= I honestly have no idea what this is about... "I just bought a new pair of Harry Potter glasses"? 

    devil= I just died and hell is a lot of fun.

    crying= "Tear ducts just ruptured, call for help" or "I'm cutting onions".

    enlightened= Lightbulbs are great.

    yes= "Great idea, lets hitchhike now!"

    no= "Off with his head!!" Or "I'm very bad at hitchhiking"

    heart= "Having heart attack... Call paramedics"

    broken heart= "Aorta just violently ruptured, call for help"

    kiss= "I have bizarrely puffy lips"

    mail= Strangely folded diaper or nappy

     

    I'm sure most people who use emoticons are mostly not using them to mean what I'm seeing them as, but I just thought I'd put that out there.
