"Particle Illusion is a 3D particle generator that can create stars and other particle effects. It's available as a standalone application or as a plugin for video editing software like After Effects [& Vegas].

I use the plugin for Vegas, but the standalone version is free from Boris.  Amazing software.

you can use StarBright for Carrara

or you could get dartenbecks starry night for Carrara

    Thanks

Also, i don't feel like Carrara's moon looks very bright.  It's a lot brighter looking at it in real life and photos, but it looks kinda faded in Carrara. any way to fix that without postwork?

get the moon texture from NASA I think it is and apply it to a sphere

then make it as bright and big or small as you like  wink

    Here is my method:

1.-Make a simple sphere, cut it in half. Name it "SkyDome"

2.-Make a simple circular plane, (octagon or hexagon should be fine) Name it "Star"

    3.-Set Skydome to invisible.

4.-Go to material room and set color black and glow as pale blue, almost white.

5.-Then call a surface replicator, parent "Star" to the surface replicator.

6.-Choose surface replicator, go to model room and choose SkyDome as source object. Set the number of objects as much as you want, and random scale as 200%

7.-Finally, go to assemble room, go to scene, filters and add Glare. Set it as you want.

    Get fun.

The good thing of this method is that you can set everything, the color, the number and the size of stars. You can use some cloud png's in a second skydome to make a cloudy starry sky.
