But the things with the products / characters / textures is a good reason to make it possible to show nude characters in some way. Imagine:
There is a character for G3F with an awesome ultimate top 10 skin, mindblowing but also expensive, you save money over and over just to buy this product and then you have bought it, downloaded it, installed it, got nervous of how this character will look like and then...green nipples LoL
Thanks for the tip cosmo. Yeah, 3feetwolf's product is the one I've been using for G2F and its a very good product, but it has its limitations (eg only for base figure or V6). I'd like to use the official Daz product, because in theory it should be easier, more seamless and work across a wider variety of characters, but the only images I see of it are heavily photoshopped so I don't really know what it looks like out of the box (pardon the pun!).
Agreed! Its just like Facebook or the news - its fine to show graphic horror, violence, mutilation etc but heaven forbid that anyone should be exposed to a disgusting female breast! Kids should be taught that nudity is very wrong, whilst violence is perfectly natural
.
We could start blindfolding them while they're being breast-fed...
You will find that nudity is not allowed in the galleries either. You will need to use something like deviantArt if you wish to show more than you can in the forums or galleries.
Cosmo lighten the hell up. I am not very good with names and I got your character confused with one of Kyoto Kids who does do child characters.
I agree that the internet doesn't need another porn site and I'm perfectly fine with DAZ setting the rules for what they want on their site. What I don't agree with is the in my opinion inconsistent interpretation of the rules. As quoted earlier:
Buttocks are apparently completely fine to show if there's just an itzy bitzy tiny string that you have to zoom in on the image to see somewhere in between them. Or in the case of my own render that got removed from the forum, the panties I put on to please the powers that be didn't look any different from a belt with the string not even showing in the version that didn't get removed.
And as we all know, and it's nothing unique for DAZ so I don't blame them, female breasts can be shown as long as just the nipple/areola is hidden.
TOS begins the list of rules with:
"General Code of Conduct
Posting
1.Posts, threads, and images MUST NOT contain ANY nudity, violence, or profanity."
Where's the witch hunt on violence? There's many violent renders in the galleries, and even in product promo shots. I suppose to DAZ's defense there is in the "Gallery and Posted Image Conduct" section of the TOS specified that it only seems to matter for more extreme types of violence. But then again, it shouldn't then say "MUST NOT contain ANY" elsewhere.
To top it off. Two of the current top 4 images on the "Top Recent Images" on the gallery page is by all intents and purposes nudes. Where's the consistency? Again, what happened to the "MUST NOT contain ANY"? Allow nudity, or don't. Allowing nudity some of the times just causes confusion and frustration.
Sorry for the rant. I doubt it will change anything, but I needed to get it out of my system.
Lastly, I have nothing against the images I've refered to here. I think they're great.
The new product for g3F is also limited (UVs) but in relation to reality you can`t compare it with the product for G2F (have both). It is a milestone.
I'm reminded of La Maja Desnuda and La Maja Nuda.
Goya, doing 'family friendly*' and 'adult', 250 years ago.
(* Well, ok, 'Church friendly')
The only true way to know if an image crosses the line is to cross the line. Questioning policy is not going to do that. Inconsistency is inherent in any system.
You could probably cross the line very simply even with clothed figures. Throw Skyler into some odd situations and see how quickly that wall comes down. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but there's a standard here on DAZ. It's not even Sparta... this is DAZ. I don't have to like the rules, just like I don't have to enjoy paying taxes or getting a colonoscopy. There are MANY places to post nude, even "explicit" images for when that itch needs to be scratched.
Near-nude is close to acceptable, so don't ask & don't tell. Seems perfectly reasonable to me!
HAHAHA... yea, we can have monsters, blood and guts but nothing that remotely resemlbes the beauty of the human nude. *sigh* the prudes rule the earth I guess...
Activists are working on breaking the 'male nipples ok, female nipples dirty' thing in US society. Maybe in time it won't be a big deal here.
Might take several decades.
Activists or not, I don't think men in general will be too keen on starting wearing bikini tops on the beach or bras/tops on a hot day.
I don't have any issues with nudity or voilence, i am not inpressionable to where it will effect me one way or the other. If i was looking for either, I can look at most other places on the web to get my fill. I can understand users that have issues with nudity or violence, but it's up to "you" to avoid them, not the other way around. I don't like seeing kids in renders, but I don't complain about it or judge those that do render children, it goes both ways. I also don't want the forums to become some kind of porn fest as some have put it, but there are aspects of working with 3d characters where a nude image will come into play, either in the forums, on a product page or in the galleries. With the new forums, I would hope DAZ will revisit finding some kind of nudirty filter so we can at least view full promos of character sets since the textures are a big part of any product and can make or break a sale for some, including myself.
prudery. That is what I will never understand. In the US you can show in movies how people get ripped and torn to pieces (saw movies for example) but if there is only one bare female breast in the movie it is banned. Do some (or a lot) in the US fear female breasts?
La Maja Desnuda is correct. Nuda is not a word. La Maja Vestida is for the one where she is clothed.
My bad. My Spanish is muy pobrecitamentisito.
My spanish is written in a menu card at one of my favorite restaurants :)
What's terrible is that my grandmother was a professor of language, teaching Spanish to foreigners at San Juan University.
Aaaand I can barely understand Spanish.
Ah well
hmm, the only foreign language with which I am familiar a bit is english. Have had fench at school but this is lightyears ago and there is nothing left.
...and on the flip-side, if you also want a family freindly DA group, check my sig! :)
Probably. :-)
a movie will not be banned in the US (just in general) due to a bare breast, there are plenty of those in movies, all legal. There are some legal age-related limits that need to be addressed though. And I have no idea if there are any local laws that I haven't heard of in certain places, since laws can be national, by state, by city, etc. maybe there are some oddities. In general people don't wander around nude in public, although there are nude beaches in places, and probably the social norms differ from place to place, I don't really know what the laws are.
But ultimately, there are over 300 million people in the US, probably with 300 million different opinions on what is acceptable, ranging from one extreme to the other. Then, extend it to the 7 billion or so other people beyond that (well, the fraction of those that will visit or hear about your site anyway)... You aren't going to be able to even come close to pleasing everybody, ever. It can't be done. So, as a business you have to pick a position that you are personally comfortable with and also that you think will avoid and/or give you a minimum of problems from everbody else that will visit the site, and that will project the image you want as best as possible.
While we understand that people have opinions on politics, social norms, and differences in different countries, those are not appropriate topics for this forum. Please stick to the topic of what the rules are on this site and related issues (such as product promos), and discuss societal matters on forums where it is appropriate.
well, at Renderosity for example the "offensive" images of promos are flagged with a content advisory banner so you can`t see anything at the first view. And I guess that nobody here would say that Renderosity is a porn site. It`s just about the product, an information how the model looks like, nothing else. And if it comes to galleries also Renderosity has a lot of restrictions if it comes to nudity but art is allowed. And nobody here would say that for example an Art Gallery (museum) with some historical paintings has something to do with porn and there you can see much more than even Renderosity allowes.
with "movie banned" I meant not by law but by public as you can see in this discussion. Just a question of nudity lets people here write about porn. Who the hell as asking something about porn? That is what I meant, just an image about a nude character standing straigt is not porn, it is nothing.
I misunderstood what you meant by "movie banned", sorry for the confusion. And I completely agree with you on these points. However, others may disagree, and ultimately the decision has already been made for this site.

The thing is; I wonder about this - I think it is the only G3F I don't own; however, as it is selling the figure, and the big part of a figure is the texture; it's not a she, it's an it as IT is a 3d model, and I can barely (no pun intended) see a major - and for me- the main reason why I purchase; I can make my own shapes and do, but textures take far more skill.
I haven't yet bought it as I can't see the texture enough to make a decision, and really don't want to return another item; although I'll likely buy eventually, and probably not return. This one is particularly bad at showing the texture; clothes I don't care about (and am not buying) are prominently displayed.
@nicstt, you could try contacting the artist directly to get a more detailed promo image. Perhaps they would be willing to provide that promo image to you (not posted on the DAZ site) to aid in the shopping decision, or already have made additional promo renders available on one of the other site as described in earlier posts, and can direct you there.
Having done that with a few vendors at other sites, it becomes tedious and i just stay away from any vendor that has the option to show the full textures and does not.
There used to be the option to post full promos at other sites, DAZ did it in the past with ARTZONE with their own elite characters, but sadly I haven't seen that featuire used in awhile. There is still a link to them in this product, buy it is invalid http://www.daz3d.com/v4-elite-texture-katie
your right, years ago you were able to see much more of a characters skin than these days, I remember it well. One reason Dixie has the skin she has today :)
