Can hardly see a difference still to be honest
^^ I agree.
If you have a mac, you can do this for real in the finder using quickview. OR if you have image software like Photoshop or Gimp, just load the 2 pics in a stack, and turn the top layer on and off this works especially well as you have acces to zoom so you can focus on one area's differences.

So, how do these things work? are they "add on" morphs, or do they replace the orginal?
My question is heading to, If you have one of these..Bethany, Victoria...do they just make "hd" versions of those characters, or are they something you can apply to say a Silver character?
It's all bad marketing, and if find it wrong to split up the HD Details, actually these should be part of just the main figure bundles! ( or even just the main figure only).
G3 have to many troubles as posted earlier, time for real 3d scans next year (oculus).
So here's a Difference from the promos of Bethany HD. No enhancement. Just cut the HD, positioned it over the non-HD, and set the mode to Difference. The things that are different are in lighter colors.
Eva, Karen, V7, and Mei Lin HD Differences. Again, no enhancement, so it might be hard to see, but the promos are either not very well done, or the recent HD morphs are not very detailed.
The daz HD morphs are a separate dial. They do not give you the overal shape, just the refined details. So you would still dial in Eva or whoever first.
You can apply the HD morphs to other characters , and they mostly would look fine if they are similiar in shape. For example I use Lilith HD morph on Non Lilith shapes and it looked fine. Same for V7 HD on G3F shapes.
Because the HD morphs tend to flicker into the what's hot for a duration, they are probably capitlizing on the small percentage of people who are willing to buy them. So I don't fault them for splititng them up. I wouldn't mind them in the core packages.
I know I don't want the base figure price to increase any more because I don't want most of the HD morphs.(cause they aren't that good to pay for). I do find the V7 HD morphs adequate for my needs, I might want to buy one more set of HD morphs for a curvy gal like Olympia assuming they are detailed and give her a but of cellulite.
They're a bit more noticeable if you have less soft lighting (and lighting the figure more from the side also helps), but yeah they're a bit subtle for my tastes. I think the problem really comes down with how we define female attractiveness. Men have a lot more leeway to be craggy and still be considered good looking. (for another example look at the furor after a disney animator talked about how it was harder to animate women's emotions because they had to stay pretty). HD is great for lines and creases, but unfortunately, women arent supposed to have those. Daz is in the market of attractive, the way I see it is all the characters come pre-photoshopped, which can make it difficult if you're not going for magazine cover.
Render below is Karen with and without hd. For the hands and ribs particularly, I find it pretty easy to tell which is which, but yeah Karen's no Hillary Knight (I mean look at those abs, and shoulders)
I suppose that's why I like aging morphs, because the subtle changes can makes a person seem, well, more real.
Not sure if it's the lighting but Karen's legs don't look right those renders. Just above and to the outside of the knees. Looks like something took a bite out of each leg.
PS. I can see which render has the HD morphs, but the morphs are very underwhelming. I opted for a refund - the first one that I have requested in about 5 - 6 years.
