Okay, where did DAZ put the controls for changing the background color in Studio 4.8? I know they are bound to be in there somewhere, but bedamned if I can find it.

from the DS FAQ in the DS forum

Where has the command to change the viewport colour gone?

In DAZ Studio 4.7 the command to change the viewport colour has been removed from the viewport option menu. The viewport colour is also no longer rendered - it is used solely for the preview mode. To change the viewport colour go to Window>Style>Customise colours - the Viewport colour is at the bottom of the dialogue. To change all viewports uncheck Use Independent Viewport Colours; to change only the active viewport check Use Independent Viewport Colours.

What bugs me is that some files change the background colour when you load them up. Is there any way to stop that?

Thanks. That will be a help. Black is fine for some things, but I generally prefer to work against a light background.

Asset files shouldn't do that...but scene and scene subset files could.

Setting 'Ignore settings when opening a scene file' on (checked box)  under Preferences > Scene > Backdrop Color should prevent it.

Could and do. If you have the Mage Tower Accessory packs, some of the culprits are there. I discovered this earlier tonight as I was loading them one at a time to set up Iray MAT conversions.

Should but doesn't. That's how I have my preferences set, and it doesn't make any difference.

It seems that almost everything IS a scene subset, no matter what you save it as...no wonder that this is happening.
