Directly adding compatibility to product metadata (kind of solved?)

I was going through my assets and it turns out that there's a huge amount of Genesis 1 content (namely clothing) I'm not using for Genesis 2 because it doesn't pop up under Smart Content. Yes, I know I could use the Content Library directly, but there should be a way to directly edit a product's metadata for compatibility such that it pops up under Smart Content, no?

Not all products have smart content. You will have to access them through the content library.
I mean, yes I realize that, and there are ways to add metadata such that it appears in Smart Content.
What I'm asking is if there's a way to edit a product with existing metadata (that is, Smart Contented) such that it appears as compatible with other products.
I poked around and found a method that seems to work. This isn't the fastest way to do it since I would prefer some kind of direct database editing, but it seems to do the trick.
1. Find an existing Smart Contented product for Genesis. I used Action Kicker Boots.
2. Navigate to Content Library and find the product in question. Hit the menu button and go into Content DB Editor.
3. Ctrl-click both items and navigate to the compatibility tab.
4. Ctrl-click both items at the bottom, then right click and add compatibility.
5. Select Genesis 2 Female and accept, then click on the down arrows on each one to confirm.
This is adapted off of the Adding Metadata tutorial (http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/packaging/tutorials/adding_metadata/start). The trick was to figure out which parts of the tutorial to skip because the product had metadata already.
Of course, there's tweaking involved with Auto-Fit, but at least now I can see the products directly now.
