I did use Gia and Olympia and I'm a sucker so I usually buy the pro packs if for no other reason than for the bundled skins, hair and clothing. (and yes, gens and their uvs. I'm not a big fan of barbie and ken...)

That said, I sooo wish we'd get M7 next but I suspect, like the rest of you we'll get Stephanie 7 and maybe Gia and Olympia 7 before we get M7. It's a shame because it means I can only use Genesis 3 for roughly half of the human race at the moment.

I'm sort of hoping a vendor releases a figure that has a "male" morph for V7 like Nalan(?) for G2F. It'll give me at least a little bit. Speaking of, I couldn't help noticing that the G3F morph packs didn't have an androgyneous morph this time out...

Since we aren't gauranteed any particular figure in every generation I wouldn't be surprised not to see certain ones return. Which ones do and don't return and in what order is anyone's guess. I would bet some shape will carry the Stephanie name however, she's always filled a different role each generation anyway. And of course I expect Micheal, but who knows about the rest.

Well, it's not like those people won't buy a second figure a few weeks down the line, so that argument really doesn't hold water.

A few weeks later usually means one or more paychecks later, which means easier to afford.

I'd say it's probably just that they work on one figure at a time and release it as soon as it's ready.  I am curious as to why it's always the female figures that get released first.  I'd think, from a design/build stand point, it would be easier and quicker to build the male figure first as I would think the males would be a little easier to design.

    Female items sell better.

Besides, since both figures use the same mesh it makes sense to me to start with the more difficult figure first, so you're sure you have all the polygons you need to make that figure.

I think we may see reboots of figures that sold in gen 6, but no guarantees. I'm not sure how well Gia sold personally. Olympia I do actually use quite a bit. She has a nice curvy figure, but I don't use any of the other female bases really. I'm curious about sales figures.

  • Why can't we get both the male and female at the same time? It really sucks when they favor the females over the males all the time and they never put out as much content for the males either.

This. Right now all the promos and shop page are a female fest. Those of us who're not interested in tweaking females have to wait. It's like this not only here, many gaming/modding communities suffer from this "female-itis" o  o

I'm personally waiting for G3M so I can get down to business making morphkits for him. I have more than a dozen planned sets and I can't do any of them until I can get my hands on him.

Makes me want to climb the walls some days...

No where close to this extreme. Even modding communities(known for nude mods). If you actually look at games you see men regularly.  And you also find people of color! And people with clothes. It's still apples and oranges.

I'm not in a rush for G3M, especially considering how there has been a decline in products made for males with each new generation of figures.

I have to agree with Tim here. The amount of decent clothing for G2M was pitiful, were it not for the efforts of freestuff creators it would have been much worse.

i will probably do the same thing with G3male as I did with G2. Basically buy all the pro bundle and convert everything I can from previous male figures.  Then buy just about everything male oriented that shows up in the store.  While I can logically accept the reasons given as to why there is not as much male oriented content, it's still very frustrating.  On the other hand, those content creators that do make male oriented material are pretty much guaranteed the bulk of my "daz budget" as insta-buy purchases when they do make male oriented products so they at least benefit.

Well, DAZ_Steve just said in one of the Bethany 7 threads that G3M/M7 was "a few months out" and that we'd see more G3 Females and a couple G2 males before they came along.

The sad thing is that G3M will probably never have a really decent selction of textures.  Look at what was made for G2M, all of it, then subtract out all the products that use Gen 5 and Gen 4 mats.  Then subtract all the sets that don't come with gen maps if you need that sort of thing.  Oh, and THEN subtract all the skins that use a UV map that you don't already own the figure for... not that there were many of those after Gianni. But since DAZ is playing the special UV set game again with G3, that means you'll still be stuck having to buy the Bubba 7 base figure if you want to use the 1 skin set that uses the Bubba 7 UV.

    It's a pretty small number, isn't it?

G2M was, in great part, made usable by the fact that you could use Gen 5 and Gen 4 skins.  But since DAZ has decided to forgo that compatibility this time around, given their past history of releasing male products, I have great doubts that DAZ will EVER produce a decent variety of G3M skins. As it is, the fact that texture artists will have to produce all new sets to fill ALL the market niches that G2F and her predecessors already covered, I doubt that there will be many artists who will even WANT to produce G3M textures when there's still a huge sucking vacuum for G3F.

My guess on an arrival date?  Maybe Decemberish, but more lilkely it'll be some time well into in 2016 before there's any real support.  And a LONG time after that before there's enough product to contemplate using G3M as my go-to figure over G2M.

Keep in mind that supposedly the new G3 UV scheme is compatible with other industry stuff, so it might open up texture options in the long run.

In the long, long run, perhaps.  But on a short term "I want the product now" basis, I think DAZ has shot itself in both feet, one hand and, depending on whether you use that sort of thing, the gens as well by not building in at least some kind of backwards compatibility.

You could see it as an investment in the future. And given a large segment of the audience seems keen on making portraits of pretty young women, and will spend a lot of money on that, we can optimistically view it as Daz being sustained and supported during the transition by those people until they can build a market that will appeal to the rest of us.

The industry-standard stuff is the way the different texture groups are split across UV space, using offset unit squares. The way the maps are split may be more normal by modern standards, but that doesn't mean that content made for other figures will be immediately usable - though perhaps artists whose workflow revolves around Mari and the like will find the new figures easier to work and that might bring some new people in.

According to DAZ ... we'll have to wait quite a bit longer.....

By the time G3M comes out, G3F will have more content in the store then G2M ever got. This is based on current trends and could change. But G2M has been out what 1.5 years and has about 800 products? G3F been out 6 weeks and has over 130 products.

I imagine we'll have to wait until sometime next year before we'll see the appearence of M3. And 'till then we'll have to get used to 1 male outfit for every 50 female ones. And I'm not holding my hopes high for any more male 6 characters even though there are quite a few holes to be filled therein, like the tall and lanky man and the elfine man (the partner to Giselle that is) or the hot succubi / bishonen style to go with Lilith.

Daz already said at least one more G2M coming.

Brandon and Logan are pretty good tall/lanky/bishonen.

Partner for Giselle could be the young teen boy : ) He looks like an elf to me with his dolly face : )

But yeah I´m quite curious what the new male is going to look like but I do not intend to buy anything for Genesis 2 figures anymore so I wish they´d focus fully on delivering us Michael 7 but well still a great thing there is going to be one more male in the female dominated market : )

This suggestion has merit; good idea I'd never thought of that. :p

If they intend to release an iconic character(s) for G2M well into G3Fs time and delay G3M, this is the repeated conditions of David 5 and G2F with G2M on the horizon, and I'd be very surprised if it succeeds, (although I certainly hope it does well!). Undoubtedly those in anticipation for Genesis 3 Male, are likely not going to rush out and splurge on a late G2M arrival, they are afterall saving up for G3M. So sadly, it looks incredibly risky for the PA's Involved. It was such a dissapointment that David was essentially killed off because of this, I hope we dont loose out with another character the same way.
