Hi there people, perhaps someone out there maybe can help me? I ain't so good on computers and things like this but I love the program. Now the thing is I recently got a brand new computer with a hard drive on 120 gb c: (ssd) for boosting windows alot, and a secondary hard drive with 2 Tb. Now, I can't install tdaz studio and the content on my C: since the hard drive ain't got much space left in it after the installation of windows. So I tried to install it on my other hard drive D:, but when I did that, daz studio couldn't find anything of my contents. Does anyone have the skills to help me thru this? Pardon my english, swedish people you know. Other than that, Have a nice holiday!

You need to go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and enter the full path to your library folder as BOTH DAZ Studio Formats AND Poser Formats.

Then DS should see your content.

DS defaults to using locations in the Documents and Public Documents folders for content. If you open the Content Library pane, right click on DAZ Studio Formats, click on Add Base Directory from the menu, and select the folder you installed your content to, then do the same with Poser Formats, you should get access to your content.

Well, here we go again. Since my Girlfriend has also a new computer, and I tried these tips but nothing works, We installed it not on the primary C: harddrive but the E: harddrive since the C: is a ssd harddrive with only 120 gigabyte, now when we installed daz studio on her computer as well, a lot of things has gone bad, The program want's to find all the clothes on C: harddrive but everything is on the E: harddrive, I changed the installation in DIM and changed the content directory map as well but daz studio is still going the wrong way and demands to find the file in the C: harddrive when I've already told the program It is in E:!
    Any solutions to this?
Thankful for all the help I can get.

Did you go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and make sure that the paths to the content are correctly listed to the new drive in BOT Poser Formats AND DAZ Studio Formats, and also remove any paths which still point to the E drive?

When you say that DS demands to find content on the C drive, what do you mean exactly? Are you getting error messages about missing files? Can you see the content in the Content Library (NOT Smart Content) in the proper place in that pane?

I can't see it in the content library, and the files are missing in the smart content, both daz studio and poser files are set to the folder on the E: drive so yes error messages is the right word.

Then how are you trying to load the content that is giving the errors, if you can't see it in either pane?

Have you checked on the E drive to make sure that your content IS installed on the E drive where you think it is? If the path is correct, I don't see any reason for DS not to see the content, at least in the Content Library pane. It does not rely on the database, but simply reads the folder at the location that you have given it.

You need to double check that the content is installed correctly to the E drive, and that the folder name that you are giving DS is the top level content folder and NOT a sub-folder. If that doesn't work out, could you please post a screenshot of your Content Directory Manager showing the paths to your content in both formats, and also a screenshot of your DIM install settings?

I mean I can see the files but with a triangle at the end of the corner in the smart content, but there are no files in the library content.
I'll fix some screenshots after I looked it up if I have done it correctly.

Are you sure your installing your content into your E:/ library and not the default My DAZ 3D Library. Also try, go inot DIM, Go into the Installation tab, Select all products, right click, re-import metadata

Yes I'm sure, if you look at the first picture (it's on swedish) E:/my documents/My Daz 3d library and that's the one that is marked for installation but 64 bit software is installed on the program files (x86)
Oh didn't think so far, I can try that. thanks.

You need to change your 64 Bit software to the proper Programs Files. If your using a 64bit version of DS and its installed to your 32bit it may not run properly. I'm not positive but it my. If that is the case you will need to uninstall DS correct that file path and reinstall

re-import metadata didn't work. Oh? Perhaps that is what went wrong. I'll try that directly! :)

    Open the Install Manager

In the installed tab find the entry for the Sci-Fi Siren outfit

Click the arrow to the right of the item's listing

From the menu that appears select Show Installed Files.

What folder is listed at the top?

    E:/Mina dokument/My Daz 3D Library
    (swedish language)
    E:/My documents/My Daz 3D Library

But daz studio 4.8 seems to think it's installed on C:/My documents/ my daz 3d library.
But there is no such folder.

This photo shows D: drive as the directory not the E: drive you mentioned as you external drive. I don't know where this setting is coming from but if your content is on E: and not D: you need to fix that first thing!!!

(OK, I'll try to take this in Swedish, might be easier)
    Hej,

One that talks swedish? or at least writes it, I'm impressed :)
Now the fact is that smart content things doesn't work. It shows up in content library when I'm searching for it but It is not functional.
Just a empty square with a triangle in the right corner.

    Yes, I'm Swedish ;-)
OK, if you in Content Library for a second forget about the searchbox, but just navigate to People -> Genesis -> Clothing -> Something -> someitem.duf (wearable, not material) and double-click that item, does it load or do you get an error. If you get an error, go to Menu: Help->Troubleshooting->View Log file and copy the last line(s) and post them here,

I'm simply amazed! Oh back to topic, I did as you wrote and I found the clothes, but how come that they don't work in smart content? here's another screenshot where I found the clothes.

The warning triangle tells you that the database, postgres smart content database thinks the content is at another path than the path they are actually installed to. What does that tell you? It tells you that DIM installs to the location you have selected and the location you told DAZ Studio to look at, but it also tells you that the CMS (Content Management Database) has not been told that the installation location has changed. Did you say that you had tried to do a Reimport Metadata?

I would recommend that you in the Content Database Maintenance Dialog first do a reset database, then to a reimport metadata, as the base path is set wrong in the CMS and it's trickier to simply explain how to change that. This does not effect the installed content, this is just the CMS that is updated.

You di this from DAZ Studio under the little meny to the right and under Content DB Maintenance...

    Yes you did!

    Have fun!

And, if you need some good free tutorials, I would recommend the free online magazine DS Creative Magazine as it contains tutorials in every issue and freebees too.
